@Revel: We are in the same boat as you were, using it longer then I think we should be. But she sleeps so great at night, and her naps are pretty good too, so it's so hard to want to change that. Maybe our issue was transitioning naps and night time sleep at the same time, so she was ridiculously over tired by the time night hit. I'm just not sure why she was only settling for 30 minutes at a time at night and then waking up.

@sashaskog: we tried and failed quite a few times, haha. We use a cotton sleep sack at the transition and still now, but that doesn't really have the weight of the Merlin. Maybe it helped. If it isn't too hot you could try a fleece sleep sack, that might be a little heavier.

We left her in the Merlin for naps for a bit longer, maybe a few weeks? She started to not really want it anymore. She is a short napper to begin with though so it's tough to say what's helping or hurting us there.

Good luck! I felt like we used the suit way longer than was reasonable but it just worked so well.

@Revel: Thanks for your response. Can I ask how did you transition her? Did you do nights and naps at the same time? She settled on her tummy great and enjoyed having her back rubbed to lull her to sleep, but for some reason she wasn't staying asleep for long.

We used the Merlin sleep suit for even longer, until about 9 monthd, and transition was a little tough. Tummy sleeping helped, but I think it just took a few days, and then we still have hiccups with sitting up and standing, but I think that's just normal milestone stuff. We were also sleep training at the same time we ditched the Merlin, so not sure if that made things different for us.

Eventually LO just liked having the freedom to move... she's all over her crib now.

I need some advice from anyone who has used the Magic Merlin Sleepsuit. We have been using this suit since my daughter was 4 months old, and she is currently 8 months. She just recently started rolling in it so this week we decided to try to get her out of it. We'd tried it in the past a couple times but it didn't go well. We put her in a full zip-up pajama to keep her cozy. The first night she slept until about midnight and then woke up, sat up and started crying. It took about 15 minutes but I got her back to sleep and she slept until her normal wake up. I was optimistic that things were going ok. Well, things did not go ok. The second night, starting from 11 and going until almost 3:30, she would fall asleep and wake up 30 minutes later, sitting up and screaming. This would last about 5 minutes and she would settle on her tummy and then fall asleep again, only to wake up about half an hour later and it would start again. Night 3 was the same thing, but started at 10 instead of 11 and lasted until 2:30 when we put her back in the Merlin because we were all sleep deprived. HELP….does anyone have any tips, advice, personal experience to help us get out of the Merlin. Last night, with the Merlin, she slept from 8pm - 9am, with one quick wake-up for a paci and that was it.
