I love playing with them with him, too; it's so fun seeing how creative he gets with them. He got them for Christmas, right around when he turned two.</p> <p>We don't have duplos for him at home, but he has some at my gym childcare that he loves playing with, too. And he does like little legos, too.</p> <p>I don't think you can go wrong! I voted Magnatiles, because my son loves his so much, but I will say that they are expensive!! You can buy magna tiles later! I bought them for my 3.5 and 5 year old neice and nephew and it was perfect timing. And my nephew is now 4 and still quite enjoys duplo, mega blocks, and now lego. He probably plays with the megablocks more. We just have a small magnatiles set that we take with us to restaurants and plane trips, which work great. She got those when she was 1 and could play with them by 1.5 at least. She got her Magnatiles at 2 years 4 months and took to them pretty well, but I'm not sure if she would have been quite as interested at barely 2.
