@luckypenny: ugh, i'm so glad i reread this old thread because my kid is losing it on all ends: potty, sleep, etc. i realized we needed to buckle down and stick to a plan like we did when we sleep trained! she's so much more fiesty this time.

Yep, we are dealing with this as well. I figured its a phase thing as well. She started out crying herself to sleep. Then that improved, then she woke up crying in the middle of her sleep. Now its waking up from naps crying.

Have you been following the same bed time routine as before? Any changes around the house lately? I find that sometimes that could affect how they sleep so I try to enforce a very strict bed time routine with both of my boys no matter who is around or where we are. Brush teeth, shower, book, singing (with my youngest only), kisses, and the same words (night night, I love you, sweet dreams) after they lie down. They have always been great sleepers with some hiccups but nothing drastic. And I almost never let them sleep with us b/c our bed is crowded enough as it is. We went from a King in the states to a Queen in Asia. Hate our bed already so can't imagine having to co-sleep. I'll always be cranky from lack of sleep. I find that any changes with my routine gets called out by my boys... it's kind of funny... and then not when one of them starts to cry. Wish I could be more helpful... I might just have good sleepers? Hope it gets better for you guys soon!

Yep the 2-3's were the worst year of sleep for us! And we sleep trained Noelle early, so she was a CHAMP sleeper for the longest time! For awhile, I thought the rocky sleep had to do with the crib to big girl transition and all that newfound freedom, then I kept reading about toddler sleep issues here on the boards and realized that this is pretty normal 2 year old behavior!

I was like you at first, I suffered with just bringing her into bed with us for awhile and could not sleep well bc she would kick and turn and move all over the place.. but after awhile she learned to quietly climb into bed and just sleep curled up in a fetal position on the side, and now we love having her in our bed. She usually falls asleep in her own bed first and crawls into our bed sometime between the hours of 4-6 am in the morning. She's almost 4, and has been doing this since she was 2.... so this "regression" might not be going away anytime soon!

Us too! I just did what we saw on super nanny...

The first time she came out we say "I love you, time to go to bed" and take her back and tuck her in
Same with the second...
The third was don't say anything just bring her straight back
Say nothing for all subsequent wake ups

It internally look us 3 hours the first night. Then 2 hours. Then 30 mins. The fourth night she just looked at me and said " okay mommy. Goodnight!" And it's been fine ever since fingers crossed

@Rainbow Sprinkles: yeah, I feel ya! My bed used to be my sanctuary- now I just try not to get elbowed in the eye :P my husband has resorted to sleeping in the guest room during the work week since he sleeps horribly with her in bed. I do enjoy cuddling with my daughter but there are nights when I wish i had more space to stretch out.

Maybe it's just me but I can't sleep with B in the bed. He's a kicker. DH loves trying to snuggle with B but it takes FOREVER for B to fall asleep when he comes to our bed.

Started for us around June when she was about 2 years, 4 months old. I think she was having lots of nightmares and bedtime was just horrid. After a few days of her waking up crying several times throughout the night, we started bringing her to bed with us. She sleeps great when she's with us, so we will be co-sleeping until she feels ready to go back to her own bed again.

i dunno about the 2s, but DD is full fledged sleep regression at 21 months. it started when we went camping a month ago and has lasted a full month. up screaming crying and won't go back down. i'm sick this week so i'm really feeling it. i thought it was because she was sick/teething, but i am at a loss for this long of a regression....

My son developed sleep problems at 2 as well. He is just finally happily sleeping on his own at age 5. We're dealing with my daughter's wakeups now. She doesn't cry. She just comes into our bed in the middle of the night. She's pretty stealth - sometimes i don't even realize she's there until the morning.

My LO has been doing this lately and she's only 15 months and still in a crib! But she just screams relentlessly until we pick her up and even then, she doesn't want to go back to sleep. She just stares at us in the pitch black for FOREVER and waits until we try to put her back down, and then starts the screaming again.

Last night she was up from 3:30-5:00 am. We (she and I) leave the house every day at 6:40, so none of us are getting enough sleep!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: sorry! once both kids were out of the crib, it was pretty much bedtime battles most nights.

olive just turned 3 and i think she's been having nightmares every night. charlie's sleep has actually improved since he turned 4. but i think the 2-3's they're just getting so independent, defiant, curious... it's hard to sleep!

O.M.G. My LO is 28 months and has been having some crazy sleep regressions for the past 2 weeks. I thought it was some crazy season changing lunar wackadoodle thing .... but I guess it could be the 2.5 sleep regression, if such a thing exists.

She would fall asleep by herself in the crib within 15 minutes and would sleep until 7. now it takes her 45 minutes to fall asleep all the while asking me to hold her, rub her belly etc. And then she wakes up 3 times a night too!

I don't know how you're handling this with a second child!

My LO is a little younger at almost 26 months old. He had a sleep regression a few weeks ago that sounds similar to yours. I was up with him around 5am one morning. We played inside, then went to a coffee shop for chai and a donut, then the playground. He definitely still has sleep regressions into two years old. I'm hoping that it's a learning thing. We're potty training right now, so it could have been that or right before it that caused it.

After sleeping through the night 10.5-11 hours straight for 7 months (if not longer), my DD1 has started waking at least twice a night, sometimes 3-4 times.

She goes to bed around 8 (7:30 sometimes), and is usually up around 12, 2, and 4. She cries and cries and cries and won't go back down until she is picked up and held by one of us, and sometimes needs to be held for as long as an hour (or else she just screams when she goes back in her bed).

This has been going on for almost a month!

Has this happened to anyone else? How long did the regression last? How do I get her back to STTN? I have a 10-month old who still wakes up every 3 hours so this is ONE TIRED HOUSEHOLD.
