I have some makeup packed in the hospital bag but I'm not sure if I will use it or not. I have a lot of items like that packed. I figure it's there if I want it.

When the time comes, I'll definitely have a *little* something on. I have really light colored eyebrows, so if I don't fill them in a bit I'll look soooo gross (to myself, at least) and I want to ENJOY looking at pics of that time. Maybe a swipe of some waterproof mascara and some powder and I'd be good.

Props to people that do a full face OR have no reason to put any makeup on, but I'm neither of those. :)

I rarely put on a lot of makeup, just some concealer and blush. And that's all I brought because like many others, I figured for the pictures, I'd want it.

But I was way to lazy to put it on. People weren't looking at me anyway, they were too busy looking at the baby :)

I hardly ever apply makeup unless I'm going Out ((with a capital O)), which rarely happens. But I always thought it was funny how tv moms would look all made up after delivery so I purposely put makeup on in the hospital on day 2. Not for any visitors...but just because I wanted to be Hollywood. :0 Plus..that qualifies as a very special Occasion.

I also saw an old hs friend with a fresh face (not tons of makeup) and she look fabulous!

I don't think being high maintenance is that bad of a thing :) At least in my case my husband loves my diva-tude haha! I don't think an evening makeup look is the best idea but I will do my daytime look. I LOVE the pictures of myself with my son and hubby but I have friends that hate the pictures of them with their babies but love the sentiment.

I do think it's a little tacky to have a full face of makeup and eye makeup and the whole shebang, because it makes you look really high-maintenance and diva-ish.
But on the other hand, you don't want to look pale and sick and dead. I totally understand wanting to cover acne and putting on a little blush. You want to look happy and healthy in photos.

I brought make-up with me but I was so tired, it didn't even cross my mind. However, I wish it did cause the pics of me right after birth are really raw. I had bags under my eyes, my eye make-up was smudged from all the sweat, my skin looked really sallow (especially under hospital florescent lighting). It might be a different story if I had really nice skin but alas, I don't. It was such a happy moment that I wish I had at least one presentable photo of me with my LO from it.

My SIL had a really quick delivery and her make-up was fully intact afterwards. I remember thinking how jealous I was, lol.

I think the pictures I have after having my son are some of my favorite pictures. Not a stitch of makeup, hair was a rats nest- but the overwhelming feeling of gushy baby love and the holysh*timananimal glow was a good look on me. Then again, I'm a total dude-chick and had to be forced into wearing makeup on my own wedding day...so, maybe it was different for me. LOL

Before I let ANYONE take pictures of me though I'll at least blot my face (with some rice paper that has powder on it), curl my lashes, and put on chapstick. I want to like those pictures, lol!

We don't have any pics of me right after the birth but I slapped some make-up on the next morning when the hospital photographer came along. I barely put on anything but I still look decent in the photos so I'm happy about that since we'll be looking at those pics for a long time.

I would put some very basic and natural makeup on - not a full face of makeup so that people can tell I'm wearing it - just enough to not look dreadful. I'll probably bring cover-up, cream blush, and lip stain.

I have pictures where I look like crap. If I had the energy to put some on, or if visitors gave me a break, I would have wore makeup. I don't regret it, though, I'm just glad to have the memories to look back on and am thankful to my sweet nurse that helped me get things together so I could at least brush my teeth and hair before I went to go visit my baby in the NICU! :)

I'm not pregnant yet, but I am definitely considering doing hair/make-up after the baby is born. I am not talking full-on "Glamour Shot" style hair and make-up, but just a little bit. I don't wear make-up normally, and my hair is almost always in a pony-tail or up in a clip (job requirement, plus I am lazy about that stuff!). I just feel like, you're going to be in a lot of pictures, why not look your best? AND, more importantly, (to me, at least), you've just gone through labor and delivery; if ever you have deserved pampering, it's then!

I did bring a little blush with me and I'm glad. I was super pale in the days afterwards and the pics that I don't have blush on everyone comments how tired I look and the other ones people are like ohh, cute. And a hospital photographer was there that day and we got chosen to be mama/baby for the hospital website so now when you go to our hospitals maternity page me and baby are front and center. I was happy I had blush, though it's still not a flattering photo.

The photos though my husband took in the delivery room are great though sans makeup, I have no idea why but I was freaking glowing in the delivery room.

I am pretty vain as well, I didn't put any on immediately afterwards though, and I told everyone NO pictures of me! So unfortunately there aren't any of me, but I learned my lesson of regret with my 1st those pictures aren't shown to anyone! I did however shower, blow-dry and curl my hair, and applied all my makeup (foundation, eyeliner, and mascara) the very next morning.

I don't wear much make-up everyday (shadow and mascara-- I have little Asian eyes, so I need to enhance them as much as possible), so I think I'll do the same when I'm at the hospital.

A few years ago, I was planning on buying those cute delivery gowns (like Pretty Pushers http://prettypushers.com/), but now I think that's a little crazy. So probably just a bit of make-up.

I'm not that girly on a regular basis, so I'm not sure why I felt the need to spend 50 bucks on a girly gown to bleed all over. Glad I didn't buy one yet!

I don't wear it on an everyday basis, and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've had make up on in the past year. Possibly because of this, I didn't look any different in photos taken shortly after labor. I may have even had a "glow" from being so happy to see my son.

@Dorytina: I wish I brought pretty PJs to wear at the hospital! It would have made me feel more at home and less hospital grungy.

So many people told me not to bother bringing makeup to the hospital. I'm so glad I did. Since I was in labor for 24 hours the pictures of me during that time are so gross because I was sweating, sleeping, etc. After I got to take a shower the next day, I got into my lovely nightgown/robe set I had brought, put on powder and concealer and curled my eyelashes. Nowhere near the extent of my daily routine (blush, liquid eyeliner, mascara, etc) but looking at the pictures now I'm SO glad I brought the makeup. I found myself wishing I had brought more. After all, all you're doing is lying in a bed, recovering and trying to start nursing, so if you have your makeup and a hand mirror handy, it's not that tough to do. I was in a lot of pain and exhausted too, but I guess I'm pretty vain because I was able to muster the strength to apply the minimal makeup that I brought ;)
