One thing to think about.... If you do a digital book you can't add little things in it like baby bracelet, things you get at the hospital(I took everything with me), footprint stamp, cards, etc. I like to put fun little things in there like the wings that delta gave us from her first plane ride.

Of course you could add it all after its printed, but I would probably lose everything by then.

It's weird that Shutterfly doesn't have a template for that - would be right up their alley.

We have a baby book we were given, but haven't written anything in it. I have a log book where I put how much she's eaten, diaper changes, etc and it has room for notes on the bottom, so I'm just using that. I heard about a great idea of putting together a photo book each year to give to the grandparents and we might do that. Her birthday is Christmas Eve, so it would be a great Christmas/New Year's present.

I didn't like any of the pre-printed baby books either. I signed up with MyOwnLittleStory.com. Out of all of the sites I looked at, I liked the graphics and printing options the best. Other things I liked about them are that they send you email reminders about milestones, you don't have to answer/fill in every question/page, and you can add custom pages.

The other sites I considered were BabyChapters.com, Kidmondo.com, LittleChapters.com, BeforeIGrewUp.com, and LittleAlbums.com.

We have a regular baby book as well as a daily journal, so I may not be the best one to answer this, but since you can customize the pages you can add whatever you feel is important! Birth stats, firsts, coming home photos, holiday photos, monthly milestones and accomplishments, Dr. Appt stats, and then mine goes up to kindergarten but you could stop at 1 year.

I've been looking at baby books online and in stores, where you fill in information about baby and attach photos and things through the first year (or so). I had every intention of getting one, until I realized that (1) I couldn't find one I love, and (2) the industry hasn't changed much since I was a baby some 30 years ago. I take all digital photos. Shouldn't I have a digital baby book that I can customize as much as I want and then print it?

So I started looking online, but I either haven't found the perfect search terms or I'm crazy. Has anyone done a make-your-own baby book, one that you put together on your computer (in iPhoto or shutterfly or something completely different) and then had it printed? If you did, did you use a template, or how did you decide what to feature on different pages, what milestones to record, etc.? Am I overly ambitious and/or crazy for even considering doing it this way? I actually think it would be easier than printing individual photos!
