It stays on all day. I think drawing a thin line on the upper lid and not lining the lower makes it a daytime look. Mascara has such a short shelf life, I can't justify forking out $$$ for it. I've found high end eyeliners to be longer lasting. I hate looking like a raccoon toward the end of the day. It literally "glides" on which is great for me since I am clueless when it comes to eye makeup! And it comes in a million colors which is awesome. I don't think eye liner has to be purchased from sephora though. A good mascara makes a bigger difference - look at Benefit's They're Real mascara.
