I find what fills me up is apples, peanut butter (on whole grain bread or banana), greek yogurt with granola, and nuts.

Also, lately when I crave chocolate, I have been making myself a glass of chocolate low fat milk (or, I buy the 1% true moo milk) instead of ice cream.

Today I had: OJ & banana before I left the house, whole grain toast with PB when I got to work, apple for snack, lunch - leftover homemade rice and pinto beans with taco meat and avacado/shredded lettuce, diced tomato - a high fat lunch, BUT 3 hours later I'm not hungry for a snack yet. This is a much smaller quantity of food than I have been eating lately (usually by now I have at least 2-3 additional snacks...) but it's super high in protein.

Also, up your fluids intake (water preferably). Will make you less hungry!

Oh, thanks for the suggestions! I stocked up on some peanut butter, lighter cheeses and some veggies. My meals today and yesterday were much better looking than the ones I have had recently while at work.

I love apples and peanut butter, have pita chips to go with my laughing cow cheeses and have a tomato, cucumber, basil and mozzarella in the fridge at work now. Oatmeal is also something I added to the mix. It's all foods I like so it won't be a problem eating it.

Good call on cutting out processed foods. I think I was eating too many microwave meals and not making myself eat the way I should be eating. Hopefully eating better with these snack ideas helps!

I ate a larger portion at lunch, I noticed it got me further through the afternoon and I was able to sleep better without such a full stomach at night.

I also tried not to eat snacks, if I was hungry, I'd have a smaller version of a meal. I really liked cheese roll ups, just a slice of cheese, mustard, lettuce rolled up, or sometimes I'd make oatmeal with some fruit.

I second the greek yogurt. I also ate lots of peanut butter on toast, tomato on toast. I tried to combine protein with a wholegrain. Limit the processed stuff, eat stuff that you recognise the listed ingredients as food.

For snacks I eat a bit of greek yogurt and a handful of almonds of walnuts, apple slices with peanut butter, an orange, or a few Triscuit crackers with sliced cheddar cheese.

Snacks: I always keep a stash of hard boiled eggs in the fridge for a quick snack; sliced tomatoes & mozzarella; roasted cauliflower; tomato soup

As for meals: salmon patties and baked sweet potato fries; a big salad with chicken or shrimp, tomatoes, & avocado; smoothies (greek yogurt, milk, & frozen fruit); lentil soup w/lots of veggies; pretty much any soup that has some meat and veggies!

I ate a lot of bananas. They're filling and help with the crazy leg cramps I would get.

I made myself lots of zucchini bread and would have it with a cup of milk for snacks. It's not the most healthy thing but it was filling.

I also ate lots of avocados and upped my meat inttake to feel more full. But we don't buy many things processed so there was very few sneaky calories to go in.

I mostly try to stick with lots of proteins, whole grains and good fats (like from olive oil, cheese and avocados).

Snacks: hard boiled eggs, cheese sticks, yogurt, nuts, avocado slices, apple slices with peanut butter, tuna fish and crackers.

Meals: I eat a larger dinner serving now that I’m pregnant, but I still try to stick to a general “1 part meat/protein, 2 parts veggies” rule for my plate. Lots of salads beefed up with nuts, dried fruits and/or goat cheese (or other cheese). Lean cuts of meat/fish/shellfish simply prepared. Other veggies on the side, often with a whole grain like quinoa, brown rice or farro (I love farro – very nutty flavor and filling). I try to stay away from heavy cream sauces and butter (or other high fat sauces).

In the first trimester I nearly lived on tomato soup- savoury enough to satisfy me but still fairly light! I also ate quite a lot of good brown bread with either cheddar or nice tomatoes.

I weighed myself last night (and this morning at work) and realized my home scale is not broken. Whomp whomp. So, I'm making a conscious effort to stop eating whatever I want "because I'm pregnant" and to start eating healthier meals.

What suggestions do you have for snacks, lunches and dinners during pregnancy that fill you up and are somewhat healthy?
