My cycles were weird so sex every other day for a month worked for us our second month not using condoms. I had been off the BCP for about 8 months.

There is very little scientific basis to any of this, so I'd say take what you will and leave the rest. I am an irregular ovulator, and my husband has quality issues, so the key for us was just tons of sex. We conceived our second after three years of NTNP on a month where we'd just happened to have a bunch of sex. I'd also just lost a little weight, which is known to be helpful.

@Mrs. D: Stress for sure.

Although I'm not a scientist, I do believe that when you are stressed, your body's defenses are up. And DH's swimmers as "foreign bodies" are not as "welcome" and the border patrol not as "relaxed".

Mental stress can manifest into physical stress. And for me, I think I'm pretty sensitive to physical stress. I think I'm fairly tough with handling mental stress until it shows up as physical symptoms.

@stiletto_mom: Stress might be an issue. When we conceived DD I enjoyed my job. At my new job I regularly question whether we can afford for me to quit. A student threw a pencil at my face a few weeks ago. HARD.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: I temped for a few months, but didn't last cycle since hubby wasn't going to be home at the right time. I'm going to start again tomorrow... maybe, but really, it's sex if he's home, and none if he's away. My temperatures won't effect BD at all, since of course we're gonna do it when he's home, regardless of the temperature on the stick.

Eta now that I think about it, I was on a green tea kick all 3 times.

For us, I'm confident the reason we haven't gotten pregnant was because I was working out.

The month I stopped exercising completely, I got pregnant. That cycle, we also CUT DOWN on Pre-seed and only reached for it maybe 50% of the time.

DH and I dtd every other day, it's kind of a weird silent understanding. If we have a quickie, we'll grab the Pre-Seed, if we have time, we forego the Pre-seed and just focus on foreplay.

I also know it's kind of a supersitition, but I keep laying down afterwards. I don't get up for 20 minutes and spend it "cuddling" or being "caressed". I think being "happy, intimate and satiated" after sex helps your body not to be "on guard".

I dunno. Just psychological I guess but I hope there is a scientific basis to it.

I think that having enough CM was a bit issue for us when TTC #1. I drank tons of green tea before ovulation and took mucinex in my fertile window. Made a HUGE difference.

The month we got pregnant I used OPK and DTD the day of! I used pre-seed but I don't think that had much to do with getting pregnant (because we used so little).

With my first, I didn't know quite as much about ovulation and cycles, so I just hit my whole fertile week, including well after O. I got my BFP after one month of trying.

This time, we just stopped after O because everything I heard was once you O then that's it. It took us 4 cycles this time and I got my BFP the month we DTD a couple of times after O. So who knows?

-Sex! It was hard for us to make sure we BD enough during fertile period.
-water & green tea. Loads of green tea
-we ditched pre-seed the month we finally got pregnant
-opks
-I was doing a 30 day yoga challenge. I think it was great for blood flow, stress reduction, and overall well-being!

ETA- I had a 9 days LP, and tried unsuccessfully to lengthen it with B-vitamins and acupuncture. I did get pregnant with a 9 day LP fortunately.

Good luck!

Hmmm. Well I did IVF but before when we were REALLY trying hard to get pregnant naturally, things that seemed to help others that we tried were..

-Mucinex for CM (the cough medicine you are probably referring too)
-Preseed lub- it is sperm friendly and is support to help them survive longer.
-acupuncture- so good when you are TTC
-Vit B complex for lengthening LP
-laying in bed with your butt propped up for at least 30 min

what are you using to chart your cycles? Are you temping? Using OPK? Something that might be good for you is a clear blue easy fertility monitor. Since regular OPK only give you I think a 24 hr window before you ovulate that may not be helpful if your husband has a difficult schedule. The Clear blue easy fertility monitor learns your cycle over a couple month period and reads not just the LH surge but the estrogen levels too so its gives you 5 fertile days leading up to ovulation. Not just the day before.

Good luck!

Most of you TTC have seen my comments about hubbys schedule not exactly matching up with my fertile periods.

Looking ahead he SHOULD be home the next two cycles at the right time, so I want to make the most of the next two months.

What are your best tips to increase your chances?

For DD I was actually sick the week we conceived her, so as it turns out the cough medicine I was using may have helped us, so I plan on dosing on that for a few days leading up to BD to make my CM just right.
I also need to try EXTRA hard to drink enough water this cycle for the same reason.
I"m not sure all my LP have been a full ten days, so I plan on taking some Vitamin C for a few days after O'ing hoping to extend it.

What are your tricks you're trying or which worked for you?
