@shopaholic: I'm not doing solids yet but I bought a thermos from tommy tipee that I use to warm up bottles for LO if we are out. I like it because there's a big flask you pour the hot water in so you don't need a cup or anything. I'll probably use that to warm up food on the go once I start solids with her in a few months. The thermos was $19.99 and don't forget a coupon. I use this app called snip snap to search for BRU coupons.

@Mrsbells: Do you ask for warm water to heat it up?
@swurlygurl: Me too. BFing so much easier. No worrying about storing and cleaning. lol.

I am so bad with purees too. It's a good thing DD goes to daycare, because that's where she gets most of her food! I always forget at nights, and she usually only gets 1 'meal' on the weekends :/

I keep trying solid-er foods (8.5 months) but she still gags. I do not like this part of parenting!

I normally thaw it and scoop it in....out of curiosity I just put a frozen cube in the dispenser to thaw over night (only one frozen cube fit). Almost every time I've used this dispenser in public someone has asked me about it or said, "oh my gosh why didn't they make stuff like that when my kids were young." :)

@scg00387: Thanks! Those are the ones I am thinking of ordering. Do you mean you put 3 or 4 cubes of frozen food in one?

@Mrs. M: That does look really handy! Can you put frozen cubes of food in the dispenser? Or do you have to thaw and scoop it in?

@birdofafeather: Thanks! I will check those out!

We got the squooshi pouches and I like them! I've filled them with stuff and just thrown them in my bag assuming I'm nt gonna be out all day. When I have cubes, I just stick them in the pouch either in the fridge to defrost if I have time or out.

Boon makes a product called "Squirt" and it's an amazing way to feed baby when out in public. Plus it is much cheaper than the pouches. We love using them at home as well because it cuts down on the mess! You can find it on Amazon or in-store at most Buy Buy Baby stores.

@shopaholic: pouches are so expensive! I have a pack of 4 little green pouches and use them for applesauce/veggie purees as a "side". You can just pour it in or freeze it in the pouch, or put the cubes in and let it defrost like that (but if you need to seal the top, you could probably only fit one. I leave it out on the counter so I can fit 3 or 4.

If I'm going to use it within 4 hours or so, I just leave it as is in my diaper bag. If it's warm out or might be longer, I stick it in the small little cooler bag that came with my breast pump and an ice pack.

I've been really bad about bringing solids out with us. Between the defrosting, worrying about temperature, and the mess, it's all too often the whole day goes by and we haven't had any solids.

I bought a pouch today and it seemed so convenient. But I do want to make most of our own baby food. How do you prep and make your own reusable food pouches? Do you just put one frozen cube in the pouch? Leave them in the fridge (and for how many days? Do you worry about the preservation or food going bad? How long can you keep them in your diaper bag when you're out and about. Or do you need to put them in something to keep them cold?

Sorry for the millions of questions.
