Not a junior but his first name is basically DH's middle name. It's been passed down a few generations, and we wanted to carry it on, but it was one of the few boy names we could agree on (and met all of our criteria).

My husband really wants a junior. I have always made my objections known, so hopefully he relents and doesn't make choosibg a name a horrible experience.

I simply cannot stand his name. It's very different and has two capital letters and an accent mark. It sounds feminine and the shortened version his mother calls him is also unappealing. His middle name honors his mother's favorite musician.
I don't like junior nicknames like Junior or Lil Kevin or KJ.

I would like to give my child his own name that is special to both of us or at least pleasing.

My husband is a junior and it drove me crazy just trying to talk to him and his dad when they were in the same room. I don't see how his mother could stand it! So we never ever considered it a possibility to make our son a 'third'. Besides, it was never a good name combination to begin with...

Wagon Jr. is a Junior!!! I loved the idea of naming a son after his father and calling him Junior. Luckily I married a guy with a great, classic American first name! He's not technically a real Junior since they don't share a middle name. But we still added "Jr." to the end of his name.

@jmarionsmith: Our LO's middle name is the same name as MY father and grandfather :) (My dad is a junior, and I like the name, and I wanted some representation of a family name from my side in there!)

Not a junior, but he'll share the same first name with my husband (who goes by his initials). The name goes way back in the family, and it's not so bad, so I just went with it. My husband is super excited about it.

DH felt very strongly about carrying on his name (he is the 3rd, LO is the 4th!), I don't love the idea, but it was so important to DH that I gave in. We call LO by a different nickname, because I think its important to have his own identity.

DH is insisting that if we have a boy he wants to make him the third. He likes to follow in his fathers foot steps a lot & I believe in using a relative's name somewhere in a lo's name. I feel that each child should have their own identity. We are both pretty adimit about what we want, ill probally end up giving in.

My family doesn't do junior/third etc, however the first born son of the first born son is named James. And it has been like that for at least five generations now. I have to admit I would have been upset if my brother hadn't named his son James

Not a junior exactly, but he shares a first name with my husband, and goes by his middle name. I'd prefer him to have his actual name be his first name, but if you switch the names, it sounds terrible. We never discussed him having the same name as my husband, but suddenly, in my last trimester, my husband decided he really wanted his name in there, or at least a version of his name. I was not into it, but he was so excited about it, so he won. I think it's pretty sweet now.

My son will be a Junior (he's due in 12 weeks). I love that he will be a Junior. DH and I picked out names years ago and I suggested having a Junior. He loves the idea! Its very traditional, which I love, and the best boy name I could imagine. We joked around about picking out a name for boy #2 (since we liked having our names before being pregnant) and couldn't come up with anything that holds a candle to Junior. Hope next LO is a girl! I just didn't feel a connection to any of the other names we considered and we know this one is strong!
