I made my second eat on his own very early on. I fed our first until he was 2.5 even if he was perfectly find eating on his own. That was my one big regret. Now my first is such a sloooow eater b/c I guess I also didn't practice good eating habits. We used to put lots of toys on the table for him to play with while he ate b/c it was the only way he would eat. Now all he wants to do is play with his hands or milk or whatever is in front of him. Sometimes he'll spill his milk or his entire meal. With our second we do let him play with something only when he asks but only one toy at a time. Most times he'll just toss it on the floor and continue eating.

What, if anything, did you do differently with your second (or subsequent) children that you wish you had done with your first? Feeding, sleeping, household management, your own attitude/expectations, whatever. Were you more laid back with your next baby/babies, and if so, in what way?

What advice do you have for those of us doing it for the first time? Share your wisdom, please!
