The first few weeks were tough, but then our kitty realized if she wanted attention, she needed to join me during the night feedings. Even if I didn't have a hand free, she was okay with being pet by my foot.
Now, she's carved out toothbrush-time as "multi-task by petting me" time. I sit on the floor, brush my teeth and pet her.

At first I didn't have much time for my pup at all :( my lo didn't like to be put down as a newborn so she was always in my arms and its hard to get normal things done like eat and shower, so foggy snuggles just aren't priority. My mom lives close and love love loves my dog so she made him first priority and would come take him on walks and to the dog park a lot so he never lacked for attention.

Now that lo is older we're back to our old ways and are able to give the dog more attention. We tend to spoil him as it is and bring him with is wherever we go because he has separation anxiety, so he's always by our side.

@mungbean: I hope our story is just like yours. The idea of our pup falling off the priority list because we have a baby breaks my heart. He sleeps with us, and always will which is our favorite times of the day.

I might be in the minority, but I definitely try to give our furbabies as much attention as possible. The first couple weeks were really hard, but once we got through that, things were much more 'normalized.' We cuddle every night after LO goes to bed and they sleep in bed with me, so that's the same :)

Also, when LO is nursing, my doggies always sit right next to me. I love it. That's one of my most favorite memories from the early days...

I left my pooch in ca when I moved to ga.. But yikes. I've visited twice and hardly looked at him. Barely touched and held him too :T

How has your attention for your furbabies changed since LO?

I know for sure that our 50/50 dog duties will probably be taken over 99 percent by DH. And I probably won't be able to snuggle with them as much either.

I'm trying to spoil them silly in these last few weeks. But I'd also like to level set how my relationship with them will change once LO is here next month.
