@hellobeeboston: Yep! I find the suction is way more powerful and tolerable with the manual, though that probably means it's not great for long-term use ;) I almost never have to do compressions when using the manual, but I have to constantly massage with the electric. My letdown is also faster with the manual!

@hilsy85: I did buy one this weekend actually! My husband thought I was being silly - he thinks the electric is enough, but I just want to make sure I'm covered!

@ladyfingers: oh wow - you get more with the manual? interesting! yeah - it takes me 20 minutes as it is to pump. ugh!

@Mrs. Yoyo: thanks!

OK - maybe I'll practice with it before I go.

@hilsy85: we're going to Basque Country in Spain & France! staying in: Bilbao, San Sebastian, St Etienee de Bagorry, and St Jean de Luz.... ever been? we're going with friends, can't wait! nervous to leave LO, but my mom, sister and aunt are psyched to watch him for the 6 days we're gone.

Same as PP. If it works for you, a manual is so much easier to deal with!

I can always get more out with my manual, even though it does take twice as long. And it's way more convenient than an electric. I'd bring both!

You could always buy a manual just in case, and if you don't use it, return it when you get back!

We are going on vacation in a month (without LO) and I want to continue nursing, so I will be pumping/dumping while I'm gone to keep up supply.

We will be in Europe, I have a converter so I can use my Medela double electric pump, and I'll bring batteries to use the pump without plugging it in - but I'm wondering if I should have a manual pump too, just in case?

Worth it? I have never used a manual pump, only my double electric. I've been pumping at work 2-3x a day for about 3 months now.
