@Mrs. Blue: Glad that E is feeling better! I hope F joins him at day care tomorrow.
It is crazy how fast the change. Last Thursday R wouldn't walk with the walker and then she did like she has been for weeks on Sunday for me. DH said that it was all the QT Daddy-daughter time.
I am working on her birthday. I actually just made a list this morning. If we invite just family, 30 adults and 13 kids, and if we add close friends the total is 50 adults and 21 kids. Crazy town. Not that everyone would make it, but I think we still need to seriously sit down and talk about just inviting family. Which I hate. I want my friends and their kids there too.

@Adira: We could start a new thread! Go for it!

@Adira: Seriously, it can happen in a matter of hours! They went from just scooting around and only pulling up in their cribs to being doing all of that in one morning. One morning! Gah. It does seem early for birthdays, but I know that Jan. & Feb. will be my only calmer monthsz. Since I can't even manage to get my house clean, laundry done, etc. during a "calm" month, I've decided I need to start at least making a plan now!

@Mrs. Blue: *cries* They're growing up so fast!!!! Poor sick babies! I hope they feel better soon!!! And I can't believe they're crawling and that F is already pulling up into sitting!! Xander's woefully behind some of these March babies, haha. I guess him and Liam (@dojo:) will just have to hang out together rolling around. :)

OMG, birthdays!!! I think I know what theme I want to do, but I wonder if I should really start thinking about this already!!! it seems so soon, but then again, December is going to fly by with the holidays and then their birthdays will almost be upon us!

@Adira: How is that possible??? I can't believe we'll all have one year olds in just a few short months.

We took E to daycare and I'm praying he is healthy enough to stay. F is home with Grandma today. I'm hoping he'll be on the mend soon.

Apparently, being sick has not slowed these boys down from hitting physical milestones. A couple weekends ago, in the span of one morning, they both started actually crawling, instead of scooting, climbing on top of things, & pulling up on everything. Today, Finn finally figured out how to get himself to a sitting position, but E's not quite there yet. It's crazy how nothing really changes for a while, and then suddenly they make tons of huge jumps all at once. Crazy babies.

I think I'm going to start doing some planning for their birthday so that I maybe have a chance of getting a party put together if I do a little bit here and there through the holidays and Jan. & Feb. March is one of my two busiest work months, and DH's birthday is only 5 days after the boys, so I know I can't save it to the last minute.

As for the holidays, I'm SO excited even though I know they won't remember any of this. I agree that it just feels different now that we have kids.

@Smurfette: We did that one year - just mowed up the leaves and mulched the yard with it, but it looked like hell when the snow all melted, haha. Oops. Luckily our grass didn't really suffer from it! But we try not to do it again!

@Adira: Well our leaves are still falling. We have huge old trees and at least 10 in the yard. We don't really have grass (years of renters so it died) just a lot of weeds that we have to mow. So at least the last time, DH could mow the leaves cause we weren't worried about it ruining the grass. Won't be able to do it last year.

@QueensBee: That is AWESOME sleep!! I freak out when R only poops once too, since she still does 2 or 3 times a day. I just got R dressed this morning, gave her a bottle, and then she spit up all over it. Changed her and then she pooped, back to the changing table.

6 Months is awesome!! I do understand where you are coming from since I started to wean at 6 months as well. I felt bad cause I didn't have supply issues but I was just over it. But I feel so much better, and like myself again, even if I did gain weight from stopping. Happy Mom = Happy Baby!!

Good luck on this house! I would love to not have a yard right now. The amount of leaves is insane in the membrane!

@QueensBee: Wow sleep!!! I'm so impressed and jealous!!! Go Pete!! And yuck about the poops! That totally sucks!!! Xander usually only poops once a day (though sometimes more), but we've had those massive ones before and they are horrible! Definitely had to do an emergency bath before!!!

Aww, try not to let mommy guilt get to you on the breastfeed/pumping front!! You did AMAZING being able to give him breastmilk for 6+ months and should be proud of that fact! Plus not having to pump must be sooooo nice!!!

OMG, I almost wish we had a house without a yard! Having to mow the lawn every friggin week during the summer SUCKS! I HATE IT! And then raking leaves and dealing with all the other fun. BLEH! I think having access to all the perks of a lawn without having to deal with the upkeep would be awesome! Good luck on the bid!! Hope you hear back soon!

@travellingbee: Boo to AF! Such a pain! I am still waiting for mine, which kind of stresses me since I haven't BF in almost a month.

@silver1: Wow, that sounds like a big project! When do you expect the major work to be completed? We didn't do anything extra to teach Pete to crawl, except occasionally put things just out of his reach so that he was forced to lurch forward to get it. Once he was on all fours, it moved along pretty quickly- probably between 1-2 weeks before full on crawling- but I know ever baby is different.

@Adira: Hmmm, I'm stumped with the 9-11pm wakeups. I second the sugar water placebo idea. I wouldn't want to give tylenol every night either.

@Smurfette: Your girls weekend sounds like so much fun! Sweatpants and crafting, amazing! And I absolutely love that R would go looking for you in the kitchen. The president is a mama's girl! She looks so comfortable cruising around now. Way to go, R! Sorry her sleep was so terrible last night.

@dojo: Eeeek with the biting! That's frustrating. I hope he learns that biting mama's boobs is a big no asap! You are so patient to keep offering it to him!

A few updates over here:
Pete has now slept 12 hours straight for three nights in a row. I feel like a new woman! His naps were also awesome this weekend; he slept for 1-2 hours in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. It's also the first time that he hasn't had a cold or congestion since his started daycare in September so that probably has something to do with it. I just hope he doesn't start teething again for a few more weeks so that the good sleep lasts!

He only took one poop yesterday, which had me a little worried when I put him to bed last night because he usually poops 2-3x a day. Well, he was able to sleep through the night without going, but he took a MONSTER poop as soon as he woke up. It was a total disaster and it leaked out of his diaper and all over his pajamas. It required an emergency morning bath and I had to change into a new outfit for work, as it was everywhere!

I defrosted my last bag of breastmilk this morning for Pete's bottle, which made me a little sad. My breastfeeding goal was 6 months, so in theory I should feel proud that I made it to over 7 months. And, Pete had absolutely no issues weaning. It doesn't appear that he misses nursing at all, so that should also make me feel okay. However, I do feel this massive guilt that I didn't continue to pump and nurse him longer now that my freezer stash is gone. I know the feeling will pass but for today it was a little bit of a downer.

And finally, we put a bid in on the yardless/high tax house yesterday! The actual house is perfect and dreamy. I absolutely love it. The lack of a yard was a big issue for us (there is a stone patio in the back where you can grill and eat, plus a hilly tree/ivy area, but no flat grass), however, we learned that there is a big flat fenced in park only one house away. So, we can go to this park to play catch or go sledding, but we don't have to deal with the yardwork that comes along with a big yard. Gotta look at the positives, right? The sellers probably won't get back to us until later this week because there were lots of showings over the weekend and they want to collect all the bids. Most likely, we'll get outbid but at least we are in the running!

So I think Xander might be addicted to Tylenol or something... while he's been teething, when he wakes up screaming, we've been giving him some Tylenol, but now it seems like he always wakes up around the same time and as soon as we give him Tylenol, he's happy and goes back to sleep - but I can't imagine that it's kicking in that fast! He IS still teething, so I've been nervous to just try to stop giving him the Tylenol... but maybe I should? It's EVERY SINGLE DAY that he wakes up between 9:00 and 11:00 p.m. crying!

@dojo: Yay date nights!! And I'm jealous you got your hair done - mine really needs it!!! I haven't had it done since I returned to work 5 months ago!

YIKES!!! Sorry to hear you got bit! TWICE! I know how painful that can be!!!

@silver1: We've been trying to help encourage Xander to crawl by helping him get up on all fours, but I really don't feel like it's helping him at all and he's just figuring it out on his own, so I don't really think you need to do anything in particular to teach him. Just give him plenty of time on the floor!

@Smurfette: I still can't believe R walked with a walker!! She's going to be running before Xander even figures out how to crawl!!! She just does NOT want to stay still, does she??

R woke up numerous times crying out in her sleep but then at 315 screaming! I gave her Tylenol cause I know it is her teeth hurting cause every time she woke up she was eating her hand. I finally got her asleep at 4, the she woke up screaming when I put her in the crib. DH came in and took over so I could get some sleep. I was just about to fall asleep and his alarm went off. So then I had to go get him. He got her asleep said he was ok for 10 mins. Then when he put her down, scream feast again. So I go in there, she is snoring once I get her asleep, in crib woke up screaming. So I finally said screw it. It was 515 and I needed to get in the shower. So It was rough trying to make her happy while getting ready. I hate Mondays!!!

@silver1: I kept pretty much the same style but cut a bunch off! It was super long and out of control so I just chopped a bunch off while keeping it kind of longish - I can dry it so much faster now! Do you just do the water in a sippy cup when you give it during the night?

@Smurfette: R is on the move! That's so amazing that she took off with the walker! I stood Liam up on ours and he stood there and looked concerned, sat down and cried. haha oh well. I am over this whole teething business too!

So I was thrilled that both the top teeth had cut through... then he started biting today. He bit my husband twice in the chest while lying on him (dh said no firmly - cue the crying) Then as I am nursing him tonight he really bit down (He has kind of nibbled a little while nursing before and I thought that was biting but this is like an actual chomp bite) I said no and took him off. Tried to nurse him again a few minutes later and he did it again! So I put an end to that and I'm holding him and he tries to bite my shoulder! I had to go get some teething toys for him to bite on. It took him nearly an hour to go to bed tonight because of all of this... hooray.

@ALV91711: I feel like R is always eating too!
@Adira: She gave me a huge smile when she saw me. Melted my heart!!!
@dojo: Glad that you had fun on your date night!
@silver1: we would sometimes get up and crawl so she would see it, but she just stared at us like y'all are crazy. Now DH crawls and she chases after him. So cute!!

So my friend gave us her daughters walker and I brought it home today. So after R woke up from her nap. I stood her up behind it. Totally expected her to just stand there but she took off! She walked a good 9-10 feet. When DH got out of the shower, he was like yeah she has been doing that all weekend. She still prefers to crawl and isn't totally comfortable with the cruising /walking but getting there!

@Adira: The picture you took is a winner!! He is looking so adorable!!! :-)
@Smurfette: Sounds like a fun weekend away!! Great that DH managed R and they had fun too!!
@dojo: Congrats on your new job. Yay for a fun evening!! Did you get a different hairstyle? I have been wanting to get my hair done for so long. I am tired of doing the same style everyday!
@ALV91711: Glad to hear its back down to one wake up. Maybe LO is more thirsty since winter is here? Sometimes J cries a little in sleep and we just feed him some water and he quiets down. Our apt heat is way too high (we can't control) and I get thirsty often. Wow you already have snow falling! I would love to see just a little snow here and hoping for a white christmas :-)
@travellingbee: Boo for AF!
@QueensBee: We are demoing walls hence moved to a temp apt due to dust concerns. We are planning to move back as soon as walls and floors are in. Depending on extent of change, if its countertops, cabinets and fixtures its doable staying in place. We do takeouts for DH and I and LO has ready-to-feed formula and baby food so no need to use kitchen much.
Folks with LOs crawling.. did you do anything for them to get there? J rolls everywhere but he is not all all fours yet. Wondering if I should be teaching him or something?

@travellingbee: Boo!!!

@twobee: lol that's pretty funny about your bet - too bad you lost though! We've been having a lot issues with distraction while eating too. I don't really have any tips for the cup since Liam likes his sippy cups but doesn't really drink very much out of them.

@Adira: We are in the same boat when it comes to the physical milestones! Liam took forever to really roll much and then forever to really sit well. I think it will be awhile before we see any real crawling action. It's just hard when it is obvious he would like to figure it out but he just is not there!

@Smurfette: Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I bet you are glad to be back home though

@QueensBee: That's a good point you make about their legs needing to feel the floor to grip in the beginning. Maybe I'll try that to help Liam get some traction going!

@ALV91711: Glad you got back to one wake-up!

We had a great date night though it seemed short since we were kind of in a rush. We had some sushi and drinks then went to see 12 Years a Slave (really good movie!). Liam had a fun time with his grandparents and was super tired by the time we picked him up and drove home. I am adjusting to my new hair color (actually my natural color - but I've had highlights for quite some time so it seems really dark!) and I chopped off about 6 inches - crazy!

@Smurfette: Thank you!! I'm so happy the picture I took turned out well! I just ordered a bunch of prints from Shutterfly! :)

Soooooo glad to hear that you had a fun time this weekend!!! Bummer about not getting a ton of sleep, but I'm sure it was worth it! How was your reunion with R when she finally woke up?
