@sheskrafty: Yeah, she totally has no idea today's her birthday, so it doesn't matter if you're with her or not!

Ugh, I hear you on the cups! This must be totally normal since all our babies are like this and tend to play with the cup more than actually drink out of it! I'm just hoping that now that he's off bottles, he'll eventually start drinking more from the cup! Bleh!

Thanks all!! I'm working today and trying not to feel guilty about it. The upside is that she doesn't realize it's her birthday. I'm thinking bout taking her to the zoo on Monday when my parents are in town to make up for it.

K is great with straw/sippy cups if we offer it to her and hold it. Otherwise she likes to bang it on the table and throw it on the ground. Bottle weaning is stressing me out so I'm going to wait until after her doc appt next week to start.

@Smurfette: Oh yikes - that's really not a lot! But Xander's the same way - he'll drink more if it's constantly offered to him, as opposed to just handing it to him and letting him go to town. If he has his hands on it, he'll drink a little and then throw it to the floor! Hopefully if they offer it more often, she'll drink more. And hopefully they'll give you more details about how much she's actually drinking! Bummer about the leaky cup in the car though - ugh!!!

@silver1: Oooh, that library play session sounds fun! I still haven't done anything like that with Xander!

@Adira: They are starting to do it that way. But half the time the emails don't go through. So they still do a paper version. The paper doesn't say how much she drank though.
But her teacher said this morning, she won't drink water, just throws the cup. And maybe drank like 3-4 ozs of milk yesterday. :sad: Seriously R, are you trying to make Mommy to grey early? So of course now I am worried she isn't drinking enough. The teacher said there are other's in the class that won't drink either. I asked her to pick up the cup and offer it to R more during meals. She does drink more at home when we do that.
This morning I put 6ozs of milk in her cup, gave it to her for the ride to school. We get there and I see it is empty. Yay, I think, only to realize someone it leaked. So I don't know how much she drank, but her lap, blanket, and car seat were soaked in milk. Super!

@ALV91711: Glad that he napped!! He will get use to it. Will he a rough couple weeks. I think the adjustment is harder for babies when they start at an older age. Good luck back at work today!!
@Adira: yeah, the electronic report we get emailed says some milk. I am going to ask more details today when I drop her off.
@shopaholic: I know what you mean about overnight it was like a light flipped, and she is like I am a toddler Mommy! She is trying so hard to feed herself with a spoon, trying to run, and you can just see her head working trying to figure out things.
I am not looking forward to the day when R figures out Daddy us gone for 4 days. She will look around some nights like she is looking for him. I know she misses him cause the smile she gives him when she sees him Fri mornings is like nothing else.
@sheskrafty: Happy Birthday K!!!! Hope you have a great day!

@Adira: Oh my goodness! Xander is too cute and taking steps!!! Had to watch the video on silent, but loved it! Glad your first no-bottle day went smoothly!

@ALV91711: @Adira: Thanks! I hope so too!

@ALV91711: Aww.. hope tomorrow goes well for you both. Sorry about the crying, but what a stellar nap! Good luck!

So, it seems like since K turned 1, she has turned into a real Toddler overnight! I mean, everyone's been commenting too - she just suddenly looks and acts more mature! Like a light switch flipped. Waaah! The first year went too fast! We've been getting down to 4 nursing sessions a day: morning, before each nap, and before bedtime. We still usually have one session early morning too, about 2-3 hours before she's up for the day. I'm reluctant to drop that one because of how little solids she actually eats still and the weight thing. But I'm also lazy, because it's the easiest and fastest way to get her back to sleep. K's still not walking, but definitely more interested in walking - she's enjoying walking holding our fingers now.

Oh! And the newest and cutest thing - she is reaching out and hugging now! i.e. DH was gone for 4 days. It seems like she understands he left and now she doesn't want him to leave. She kept leaning out and reaching for him this morning, and then bear-hugging him when she got him and saying "Dadadadada" It was so cute, but like she really didn't want him to leave. Which has never happened before. She also has been reaching for and hugging my brother - too cute!

@Smurfette: Oh, bummer they don't write it down! But 3 oz with dinner is pretty good! More than Xander usually has!

@ALV91711: Awwww... it breaks my heart when Xander's crying at daycare! I'm not surprised his first day was rough though! Hopefully tomorrow is better, even if it's a longer day! That's awesome how well he napped and ate though!

And yes! I'm almost pumped weaned! I'm down to nursing in the morning and two pumps during the day. I'm going to be cutting down my noon session by 5 minutes every day until it's gone and then next week I'll start cutting my 7:30 session and then I'll be done!!!!

I'm sure Isaac probably wants to nurse more when you are around, but hopefully he'll be fine at daycare! Since you won't be around, he probably won't even notice as much!

@Adira: I held up ok. I went shopping, did a few errands and then got some meals prepped and in the freezer. It was a very busy few hours. It was really strange being at home without him.

When I went to pick him up I walked in the door and could hear him screaming from the baby room. Apparently he cried a lot. But he took a 1.5 hour nap!! I struggle to get him to nap that well. They were also impressed with how well he ate, but he didn't really drink anything. He was sound asleep by 6pm tonight. Tomorrow will be harder since it is a full day and I have to go to work.

@Adira: That is pretty good that he did drink that much, I'm sure he will slowly start to drink more. Are you almost pump weaned now?

Tomorrow will be Isaac's first day without nursing all day. I could only get him down to once during the day, but most days he wanted to nurse more.

@Adira: I think that is plenty. He isn't going to drink as much milk as BM, once he starts on hemp. I have no idea what R did. They don't right it down. I sent like 4ozs for breakfast and then they provide for 2 snacks(milk or water) and lunch. She drank 3 ozs with dinner.

So first day with zero bottles wasn't as bad as I feared, but it still wasn't great. Xander drank about 10.5 oz (his normal was 18-20). But I'm trying not to worry too much about it because he does still nurse in the morning, so he probably a got a few more ounces in.

@Smurfette: How much did R have today?

@ALV91711: Have have you held up so far without him?? Have you called at all to see how he's doing? I was a wreck at first! And definitely a good call to leave while he was calm. Xander was 12 weeks when he started, so he had no clue what was going on and seemed totally okay with me handing him off to a complete stranger! I can only imagine how much more difficult it is with a one year old!

@Smurfette: That is awesome that she is bottle weaned. I hope that her first day in the toddler room is great! I can't believe she is in the toddler room. Isaac is in the baby room.

@Adira: I hope the no bottles goes ok. I'm sure that he will learn to guzzle milk from the cup.

@silver1: Happy Birthday J!!!!

I dropped Isaac off at 9:30. It went pretty good. He screamed a bit while I was putting all his things away. There were two other little boys in the room. The teacher held him and distracted him with books. I only hung around as long as I needed to and got out of there while Isaac was calm. He looked kind of confused when I said by and left. I just spent 2.5 hours doing errands and now I'm going to prep some meals before I pick him up at 2. I'm just hoping he takes a nap.

@sheskrafty: haha, it's funny because when he first started standing on his own, we would clap and cheer, so now when he stands up, he claps himself! Although when he FIRST started standing, he would stand up, we would clap and cheer, and so he'd sit back down so he could clap with us (he didn't have the balance to stand and clap at first)!

@Smurfette: Yeah, a two hour nap would be great! I hope that it works out!! I'm nervous about today since this will be Xander's first day of no bottles. I hope he drinks his milk from the sippy since that's all he's getting!

@silver1: Happy Birthday J! Hope you have a great day!
@Adira: She has good days and bad days. But getting better. She likes carrying the cup around. She drank mostly milk yesterday but at least it was liquids. She only napped a little over an hour on Friday at day care but the teacher said that once she gets use to it, it will go longer. Most do 11:40/12:00-2:00. So I would be happy with that!

@silver1: Happy Birthday to J!!!!!

@ALV91711: Good luck today with daycare! Definitely the first day is the hardest! Xander did a half day for his first day too and I ended up staying there for an hour before leaving and I cried in the car! But then I got my hair cut and got a pedicure, which helped! Hopefully everything goes smoothly for you!

@Smurfette: YAY bottle weaned!!!! Today's Xander first day of ZERO bottles! I'm nervous because he really hasn't been drinking much from the sippy cups. How's R been doing now that she's getting no bottles? And yay toddler room!!! Let us know how the one nap goes for her!

@Adira: More steps!! He will be walking all the time in no time!
@ALV91711: Hugs Mama!!! Will be thinking about I and you today. He is going to love making new friends today.

Well it is has been 3 days, so I am calling it......R is BOTTLE WEANED!! Thursday morning was her last one. I was nervous this morning cause it was the first day where we didn't feed her right away. I gave her a cup of milk in the car. And then she was eating breakfast when I left her at day care. First full day in the toddler room too!

@travellingbee: Happy belated Birthday to L!! Hope that you had a fun day.

@shopaholic: I hope napping today was better. She looks healthy, so I hope her doctor is happier with her weight next appointment.

@Adira: I can't believe he is taking steps. Hope he has a good sleep tonight.

I can't believe the time has come for Isaac's half day at daycare tomorrow. I know I'm going to be a mess. I think I have everything ready for him to go.

His party was fun, and he had a good time. He loved the cupcake and was sucking icing off of his tray. So much fun to watch.

@Smurfette: Thanks! He ended up sleeping for two hours, so that's good at least since it'll be his only nap today. I'm worried about how much milk he's going to end up having though... only had about an ounce so far. He's nursed twice, so I know he's gotten some in today, but definitely not enough!
