A little backstory: My first pregnancy ended at 22 weeks due to a uterine rupture. I had a unicorunate uterus with rudimentary horn where our first baby, Mason implanted and got too big for the space. After emergency surgery, they had removed the horn and told us that they didn't know if my body could sustain another pregnancy but they weren't going to tell us no.
Everything went picture perfect until our ultrasound at 18 weeks showed possible placenta accreta. We did ultrasounds every 4 weeks to follow up, and an MRI. They all showed the accreta, so there was always a possibility of hysterectomy if the placenta didn't detach after delivery.

Monday morning February 2nd, I woke up and had some off and on pain in my abdomen, but thought it was constipation. I was getting ready for work when the pain got worse and every time it hurt, I got nauseous and lightheaded. Since I was so high risk, my husband told me to call the OB and see what he wanted me to do. By the time I called, the lightheadednes was pretty bad and I told the doctor to meet us at the hospital.

We got to the hospital, checked in and got all hooked up to monitors, where they saw that I was having contractions every 2-8 minutes. I started looking at the monitor to see what exactly they were recording as contraction, since the pain I had been feeling earlier was gone. It turns out that I had been feeling them for a couple of weeks but thought it was just baby stretching out. They did a cervical check and realized that I was also dilated to a 3 and baby was at a -1 station and the Dr saw that I had my bloody show as well.

After about an hour and a half of waiting, we had the on call MFM come in and tell us that we were going to have the baby today! We had a c-section scheduled for Thursday the 12th anyway at 36+3 due to previous uterine rupture and possible placenta accreta. He said the difference between 35+0 and 36+3 was not enough to justify sending me home and waiting. DH and I were on board with this because our anxiety almost had us at our breaking point already.

The next thing we knew, there were tons of doctors in and out, including 4 anesthesiologists, the on call OB resident, my OB, two nurses and the hospital's chaplain. They were putting me under general anesthesia and planning a vertical incision because they were preparing to do a hysterectomy along with the c-section.

Less than 5 hours after we arrived at the hospital, I had two IVs, an arterial line to monitor my blood pressure and were on our way to the OR. The last thing I knew, it was 1:19 and they were draping me, putting me under, and they were going in.

I woke up in recovery and was told that I had kept my uterus (yay!) but that it was very thin and that's why it looked like my placenta was growing through it and that my baby was in the NICU.

Hudson James was born at 1:26 pm weighing 6 lbs, 11 oz. He was 19 inches long and had so much hair! He spent 10 days in the NICU and has been home for one week already! We are so in love. :)

I actually just emailed some friends my story, so this is good timing!
Short version: L was born Saturday 2/7 at 8:45 am. I was 36w3d, but my water broke and she was ready to come out!
Longer version: Monday, 2/2, I had my last progesterone shot. The nurse said that It usually lasts about 9 days in the system, so I shouldn't have the baby before the next Wednesday. Joke was on us! On Tuesday I lost my mucus plug. This could mean something or nothing, but given my history of early labor, I thought it was a sign of things to come. Wednesday I had my bloody show. This was when I started getting antsy. Again, it doesn't necessarily mean labor is imminent, but I was soooo uncomfortable, and was convinced labor was close. I was 36 weeks exactly, so a little early, but nothing to worry about. Thursday nothing happened. I had mostly been working from home, but I decided to go in that day to finish up anything that needed to be done before I went on leave. I was pretty certain that I would have a baby before the weekend was over. Friday was also uneventful, but I had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. I told her about my signs, and she checked me, but I was not really dilated and 70% effaced, so she said that it could be 24 hours or two weeks. The way she said it indicated to me that she thought it would be a little while. So DH and I went home, and even though I knew it was best for Baby girl to stay in a little longer, I was a little disappointed because it was such a mind game at that point. I took a nap, and Rob got my car washed so he could install the car seat. When I got up, we decided to order a pizza for dinner, and picked out something to watch on tv. I got up to go to the bathroom before we started (around7:30), and when I was in there, my water broke! I called DH in, and he was super excited. Then he asked "should I cancel the pizza?" Hahaha, we decided it was a good idea :)
We did stop and get a burger on the way, though :)
I wasn't having noticeable contractions at this point, but my doctor had said that if my water broke first again, she wanted me to go in right away, so off we went. When we got there, they tested and confirmed that my water broke, and got me hooked up to monitors. The on call doctor checked me, and I was only 1 cm dilated, so she wanted to start pitocin. I can't remember what time they started, but I think around 10. I was having more and more contractions, and the doctor said I could get an epidural whenever I wanted. I thought that was great, but waited it out a while because the pain was totally manageable at that point and I didn't want to slow anything down. I waited until 4:00 am, and then got the epidural so I could sleep some before the big show. I woke up at 8:00 because I was feeling a lot of pressure, and was pretty sure it was go time. They checked me and said I was 9 cm, but baby was still high up, so try to wait an hour so baby could move down on her own. They called my doctor at this point, and she left her conference and rushed over so she could deliver Baby girl. When she arrived she checked me, and said Baby girl's head was "right there" and it was time to push. DH held my right leg again, did his great job counting, and Baby girl was out in 2.5 pushes! I could feel a lot more this time than with my son, but the pain was over quickly and I got to hold my baby girl. It was such an emotional moment, and we were so happy.
She weighed in at 6 lbs 11 oz and 20.25 inches. Long and skinny :)
Since we've been home things have been going well. We haven't allowed any visitors, with so much going around it just isn't worth the risk. DH has been able to mostly work from home, so it's been nice having our little family bonding time.
Here are a few pictures from her first two weeks.
