I have friends who did! They lived next door to each other their entire lives. They just had their first child a few months ago.

I think the fact that they both went to private (all boy/all girl) schools probably helped the fact because they didn't have as much access to the opposite sex for dating purposes. They went to a local university together (although he was a year ahead of her) and even chose the same major so there wasn't much opportunity in those years either.

Not next door (more like a mile or so), but DH and I went to preschool together :) so we met at 4 years old and eventually started dating in high school.

My BFF (who I've known since kindergarten) and I live in the same neighborhood. Her little girl and my second son are totally getting married :silly: They are 7 weeks apart in age.

@Mamasig: That's so awesome! There was an NPR story of friends who were looking through old photos together, and the guy saw his grandmother in the background of his friend's travel photos. I would imagine having each other in albums from the past is such a fun little thing that not many people experience! :)

I dated the "boy next door" off and on for years through high school/college. He literally lived down the road (we lived in the country) and he would drive a four wheeler over and our parents were friends. It was such a small town thing. We didn't get married, but most people if asked would have guessed we would have. Still a friend, but he had some issues I couldn't overlook so we eventually ended things for good!

I ended up marrying the boy from the neighborhood who was my brother's good friend. We went to elementary school together and then he and my brother lost touch. They met up again in college and became good friends again. Years later we began dating and got married. It's funny because we share a lot of the same memories from school and church even though they weren't together (I'm a few years older). But when you look at old family albums, he is in some of my pics and we found a few with me in his.

I didn't but I thought I would, when I was like 11, haha
He was my first crush, my first kiss. He moved the year we turned 13, I was devastated. We kept in touch for a little while, but then.. high school.

This is so silly, but I'm curious ...

Did any of you (or do you know anyone who did) marry the "boy/girl nextdoor" (this could be a neighbor, close friend, etc.)?

We have friends with a LO who is our LO's age. We always joke that it's essentially a predetermined marriage in the making.

We are mostly joking, but if our kids did end up together, it would be pretty convenient! ;)

I had a neighbor boy next to us, but he was 2 years younger, so that wouldn't have worked out in the formative years of relationships, etc. What about you? Any experience? Did it work out?
