Hi! I just read this and went through something similar and my friend gave me her Silverette cups that supposely prevent mastitis naturally through silver. I wore thwm as she told me to and the pain is gone and i didn't have to take antibiotics! Good luck!

Do you have a hard lump in your breast? Is it red around the area that was sore? You should probably take the antibiotics unless you think your symptoms could be from something else.

Could it have been a plugged duct that went away but you are actually getting a cold/flu?

My doctor also prescribed me antibiotics over the phone based on my description of my symptoms, so I second the suggestion to see if someone can talk to you on the phone if you want some reassurance!

I've had mastitis a few times and each time has been slightly different. However, boob pain and flu-like symptoms are a constant so mastitis is a good bet.

when i thought i had mastitis, i just talked to my doctor on the phone and he prescribed me antibiotics based on my symptoms. maybe that wasn't cool of him, but i turned out fine. perhaps a nurse or your doctor would be willing to talk to you instead of making you go in (as i imagine you feel like shit)?

I had mastitis with my first, but this feels a little different!

I noticed yesterday a weird pain in my right boob, today I have the spins, currently achey, and most of the day have been just feeling off with a strong headache (I never get headaches!). The spins have been awful.

The boob pain is gone, but the other "flu like" symptoms seem to want to kick my butt today.

I was smart (I think!) and got my doc to write a script for the "fix" for it (forget the name) when DS was born (2.5m old) so I just need to go to the pharmacy. I didn't think about not being able to "verify" this was it with a doc visit, and since the breast pain is different, surely I can't hurt myself taking it and not 100% confirmed I have it?
