@MommySLP: the probiotic we have for the kids is just a liquid. Like vitamin d drops. Just drop onto the tongue.

@MommySLP: I'd only mix up just enough milk to dissolve the powder - like a tablespoon or two - since you can't really keep and reuse the probiotic milk. It sorta curdles the milk to like, breastmilk yogurt!? I don't know its weird.

@MommySLP: You can find a probiotic powder made for infants and mix a little up in a bottle of freshly pumped/expressed milk. It dissolves and its tasteless. If you don't want to use bottles, you can syringe it.

Thanks all. They called in a prescription. They also said to take a probiotic 3-4 times a day and give it to baby too to avoid thrush. Seems like one thing after another here! Any experience with giving probiotic to baby--she's only 5 weeks.

Sounds about right. I'd call because they might just phone in antibiotics for you, they did for me.

If it's an online message you sent in, I'd call again and just schedule an appointment ASAP if that's the only way you'll get any medication. Sorry - mastitis sucks, and that would be my first thought.

The redness and blocked ducts came AFTER the flu like symptoms for me. I'd get the drugs.

Yes that’s it! Fever and hit like a truck. My ob called in the meds and it took a while for them to kick the fever but then I felt so much better.

Sounds like mastitis to me! The last time I had it, I felt fine but my joints were aching and I couldn't get warm. My temperature went up very quickly (I was at work) and my vision started shimmering. I didn't have any breast pain but I went to nurse my daughter and saw red streaking on my breast and I knew that's what it was. I hope your doctor gets back to you soon!

DD2 is 5 weeks old & the last two nights has slept a 6 hour stretch. I woke up this morning at 4am with extreme body aches, chills & a fever of 103.5. I hardly ever get fevers so this is really high for me. I immediately thought mastitis because I don't have any other flu like symptoms but I don't seem to have any redness or blocked ducts-- I have been engorged due to her sleep change. Could this be just the beginning of it? Any experience with something similar? I have a message into my OB but haven't heard back.
