@Kemma: I haven't - but I did read about it last night doing some research. Have you used it with success?

@Mamag511: have you tried taking lecithin? It's often recommended for women who are prone to clogged ducts.

@ldh112: Oh no! I will tell you that I felt better within hours of taking my prescription! Hoping that it gives you some relief quickly! That's how mine feels as well - I can't pinpoint the exact block so I'm taking the same approach as you. Hoping we feel better soon!

same issue here. i posted a thread about breast tenderness yesterday but today i woke up and it was suddenly red and streaky :( i can't feel anything clogged to massage like i could with my last two bouts- the entire side/bottom portion of my breast just aches even after nursing/hand expressing in the shower. picking up a prescription later today and going to try to keep massaging the heck out of it when nursing. good luck :)

@Mamag511: ugh I feel your pain. I'm on my second bout of mastitis. I feel better too but the duct is still clogged. I'm going to try dangle feed.

@rattles: Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately due to my low supply and weaning previously to this, she really isn't interested in nursing. I may try to dangle pump though! Maybe that'll work!

I was also going to suggest dangle feeding. I felt like a cow, but it worked twice for me. Make sure that the baby's chin is pointing towards the clogged duct. I hope you feel better soon!

I got a really nasty clog out two weeks ago-I also had a surface bleb, though. It took a good 45 min in the hot shower and squeezing the crap out of my boob. I lubed up with some conditioner, which helped me apply pressure without my hands sticking to the skin. I hope you can get it out soon!

When I had that happen the only thing that worked was dangle feeding, I think that is what it is called. I laid my baby on the floor or bed and got on all fours above him. It requires some coordination and looks really silly but it worked for me twice when nothing else did.

I weaned from EPing after 2 bouts of mastitis too. Mastitis sucks! What worked for me for removing the clogs was TONS of really hard massaging (like digging in with my knuckles). I also used an electric heat pad on it a lot.

I read a tip on here that worked - massage the boob, especially the clog, and work at it with your knuckle. I did a lot of hand expression too. I'd also pump for maybe 5-10 minutes as a time. I know you're trying to wean, but you have to get the clog free. Once you do that you can go back to drying up.

@Bao: I've tried a diaper with hot water in it (my heating pad broke!)- it helped with the pain but didn't really help to loosen anything up.

I could use some advice. Currently on my second bout of mastitis. I did get antibiotics from my ob yesterday and have gotten rid of the awful flu symptoms - but I can't get this clogged duct loose. The problem is that I was weaning my dd onto formula prior to getting it due to feeding and weight gain issues. So now everytime I feed her or try to pump I'm getting close to nothing due to the weaning and the antibiotics drying me up. I'm at my wits end - our whole bf journey has been nothing but frustrating and I'm just at a loss. :bummed: Any tips to get this clogged duct loose? I've tried hot showers, feeding (even though I'm pretty sure she's getting nothing), and pumping like crazy.
