@mrsjyw: I'm in my TWW and I knew my pants have been getting tighter and tighter over the last couple months. Well, this week was really bad. I need to get new pants, but I'm holding out on if I get a BFP. I could buy bigger non-maternity pants but am a little afraid that I won't return to this size. Maybe I should go to a consignment store so I'm not paying full price for pants.

I fought having to wear maternity clothes until I was so miserable I eventually gave in. I think it was like 16 weeks or something crazy like that! I was so much more comfortable once I finally gave in though! :)

@joyjoy: I found that most maternity pants were too big for me too. Motherhood Maternity was the only brand that had a band that was tight enough for me. Their "secret fit" belly panel fits really snug. I didn't buy maternity pants til 25 weeks and this was still the only brand that fit me properly!

I started wearing mat jeans at 8 wks and Bella band around the same time. Wore maternity pants around 12 weeks and was so comfy! Had to wear suits for a trial til 16 weeks and didn't want to but maternity suits so used the Bella band when I needed to and hated it as I got bigger!

haha I didn't hold out and love my maternity clothes! I do wear normal jeans still, but it's coming soon that they won't be able to fit much longer! My last appointment I only gained 1 pound, but I have a feeling at this next one I gained 4-5 (which she wanted me too!)

@JoyJoy: If the panel is too big, I just fold it down, which really helps to keep it in place. Worn up, my panel is a little baggy, cus my bump is small and low, but with the panel folded down, I get a tighter fit and the support that I want.

Where is everyone getting these amazing maternity pants/skirts? I'm 21 weeks now with an obvious bump, and I can't find any that fit. The panels are all way too loose and baggy. I've been using bella bands and hair ties/rubber bands to keep my pants up since week 14 or so because I've had no luck finding maternity pants (save under the belly leggings) that fit.

@TidyBee: I hear ya on the *transition mode* issue! At 21 weeks, I still have a mini-bump . . . I really just look like I have gained weight (the ladies at work keep telling me I'm small :(. I digress . . . ) I have a couple of maternity shirts that I was super excited to wear when I bought them, but I haven't been able to wear them because I still don't have enough belly to fill them out. Now, it looks like I might outgrow those tops (boob--and butt-- wise because they are long-ish) before my belly gets bigger. >.<

I started using the bella band for jeans around 9-10 weeks, but I started wearing it for everything around 11-12 weeks. I'm finding that shirts are getting tighter at 13 weeks, but i have a few maternity shirts and they are still so big! I hate being in the transition mode...so I am just rocking some tanks and cardigans for now.

Yeah girl! Don't hold out, just buy them!! Every pair of maternity pants that I like wearing has the demi panel. I know every woman is different with that but I can't stand the full panel - or the half panel weird thing that Old Navy does. Why would I want my pants to stop at my belly button? Confused.

I'm hoping I don't grow out of these Old Navy demi panel jeans in the next 6 weeks. They have been a life saver!!

Probably around 8 weeks. I have a pair of maternity jeans that look like regular jeans except for the adjustable elastic inside the waist at the back which I wore until around 12 weeks when I started telling people I was expecting and could start wearing my other demi panel/under bump pants without tipping anyone off. I like the demi panel because until about 8 months I still have a waist and the full panel just get saggy.

I was in maternity clothes at 10 weeks also- I love how comfy they are. I'm dreading going back to trying to squeeze into regular pants! I found that I like the over the belly pants much better, but they have to be the silky stretch part that goes over, not the thick fabric. Kohls and Motherhood sell them with that kind of belly. The under the belly ones make my bump look really funny.

@roccoandkirby: I hated the demi panel the first pregnancy but my bump is quite different this time... flatter, I think, and wider... so maybe it would fit differently on me this time?? Time for a trip to Gap Maternity! I LOVE LOVE LOVE their tops.... so soft and well-fitting.

ALL maternity jeans give me saggy butt since I have no butt... and no hips to hold them up. The crotch always ends up at my knees.

I decided against the bella band as well and went straight to maternity pants. I was able to fit into my regular pants until 16 weeks so I've been wearing maternity for 4 weeks now. I don't understand why some people try to "hold out" either. They are so comfortable and they look just like your regular pants.

@Mrs. Wagon: My first pair of maternity jeans was Liz Lange from Target with a full panel and I'm not too crazy about them (maybe later on in the pregnancy they'll be more comfortable, but right now they are loose and gives me "saggy butt"), but then I bought a couple of pairs from the Gap with the demi panel and I love them. So comfortable!!

So after mixed reviews, I decided against the bella band and bought maternity pants during Motherhood Maternity's BOGO sale last week. Today is my first day wearing them to work... HOLY COMFORT! I can still fit into nonmaternity pants, but love the extra room in my maternity pants! :P

I'm about 10.5 weeks along. Probably gained a pound or so, but the lil pooch/bloat is constantly there, making my nonmaternity work pants tighter and tighter! I'm in heaven today.

When did you start wearing maternity clothes?
