Awesome, thanks everyone. I am going to splurge on the wrap and some Paige jeans. Looks like I have more shopping to do.

@Amurray: love that wrap from nordstrom. you will get so much wear out of it!

For me, my staples were splurge designer maternity jeans (I got cheap ones my first pregnancy and they just didn't cut it), long and lean tanks from Motherhood, leggings, and open sweater type things like the one you posted.

That is a really cute wrap, I would totally get that if I were pregnant now!

I had several jersey maxi dresses from JCrew, they are way long on me normally, but with a bump, they were the right length. I loved that they were wash and wear.

I also wore a Rachel Palley tunic top to death, with skinny jeans. I also had an H&M cowl neck sweater knit of acrylic that wasn't super warm, which looked good over a pair of riding leggings I bought at Zara (I sized up).

Also, Rosie Pope has some pretty dresses.

I am only 11 weeks and a FTM, but I have found that the most flattering items are tops made of soft materials, and pants made of firm materials. So far I've purchased tops from ON, pants and dresses from Gap, and some dressier items from ATL with mixed luck. I actually returned a bunch of stuff to Gap today, because the pants I got my ATL fit soooo much better.

I may also order the Storq bundle, but I'm not sure yet whether I'll need it...

I ordered a bunch of nursing bras that were buy one get one free from Target early on, but I've found two non-nursing non-underwire ones I like way more (that they never have in stock online! grrr) - the non underwires have way more give in them as your sizing shifts.

If I worked from home, I'd seriously just wear my maternity bathrobe all the time. I have a jersey knit shortie robe from Motherhood that was only $25 and it's pretty cute and soooo comfy.

I love my yoga pants from old navy - I'm less wild about the pair of leggings I got from them.

Mostly though, I have had really good luck buying from Motherhood Maternity. There is an outlet near my inlaws so they have pretty good deals, and right now they are doing a BOGO Redlines sale online, so their stuff is pretty reasonable. I feel like since all they do is make maternity clothes, they don't have the same issues as Old Navy and Gap do where some of the clothes feel like somebody just attached a belly band to a regular pair of jeans. I had to get much more professional stuff, since I have to wear suits, so I didn't even bother with Old Navy or Ann Taylor Loft for everyday because they are too casual and I need to have stuff that will do double duty for casual and nice.

I did just size up in shirts originally and that carried me to about 24 weeks - I was mostly swimming in maternity tops before now. You should be able to still get some good deals on clearance winter stuff before all the fall stuff comes out again, so it's smart to look now.

I shopped at Loft, Gap, Target and Old Navy. I would recommend getting a normal bra in your new size. You won't know how much bigger you'll get when your milk comes in and the nursing bras are so much more expensive.

I liked the Be band from Target in order to keep wearing my jeans. I hated my maternity jeans. The panel was so itchy and they gave me butt sag 5 min after putting them on!

This is random, but I completely swear by these dresses a friend pointed me to on Amazon. The material is really nice, held up well throughout my pregnancy, very flattering, great for work and only $35 bucks. Read the reviews, this is like a great hidden maternity clothes secret!

I wore a long maternity tank (non ruched) probably every day of my pregnancy. Mine were from gap but target and motherhood maternity are good too.

Basic tshirts were also good because you can dress then up with accessories you already own. I did lots of scarves, cardigans (from my regular wardrobe, just unbuttoned) etc.

I resisted maternity leggings until the third tri and then totally regretted it. They were amazing. And I wore them for weeks postpartum.

I didn't buy a ton of maternity sweaters even though I was due in early April and I'm so glad I didn't because I was SO hot all the time. I could barely wear a long sleeved tshirt at the end. So just something to consider.

i bought a lot of my clothes from maternity motherhood for casual clothes, pea in a pod for work clothes and from gilt groupe's maternity section, which has great deals on brands like maternal america which has cute and comfy dresses. i posted on a different thread that i got a pair of maternal america skinny jeans for $35, and they are super comfy.

as for my favorite pieces, maternity shorts are THE BEST. do not resist them! i'm only 14 weeks with #2 and not really showing yet, but i've already worn them.

also re: bras, buy a couple regular ones for now...you have no idea how much your boobs will grow throughout pregnancy. i didn't buy any new ones until around 20 weeks. for nursing bras, you can wait until after the baby is born but a lot of women on here like the bravado seamless silk ones. i liked those a lot. they aren't specific with cup sizes, but aren't horrible in terms of shape and are very comfy.

Everything I have is APITP, Ann Taylor Loft (get compliments on their stuff all the time!) and GAP. Oh and one pair of Citizens Jeans from ShopBop that I spent a boatload on but don't recommend. So uncomfortable!
Prepreg I am a denim snob and love designer jeans but during pregnancy I've been living in my gap full panels. They're just so much more comfortable!
Oh and a couple Old Navy maxi dresses because they are so comfy and so darn cheap!
I'd actually recommend not getting cardigans in maternity, esp the ones that you aren't going to close. If you're going to wear them open just get some cute flowy non-maternity cardigans (if you don't already have some to use). I bought one maternity cardigan and it's really a waste because it looks the same as a regular cardigan does. I use my regular cardigans all the time! Same with my jean jackets and leather jackets that I don't normally wear closed. They work perfectly fine during pregnancy too! I'm 31 weeks.

If I worked from home, I would have stayed in leggings all the time when I was pregnant. I loved the ones from the gap (I preferred the under the belly type). I paired those (or jeans) with maternity tees from the gap or old navy and then wore regular hoodies or cardigans open.

@gingerbebe: I think I'm the one that raved about the gap maxi skirt- I was just about to mention it! It's so comfy, I wish it still fit (well not really since that would mean I still looked really pregnant a year out :) )

Most of my stuff was gap, old navy, and target, so I'm not that helpful. I preferred smooth non ruched tanks early on, but by the end I felt like I needed the ruched sides to bring the bottom in under my belly. I wore mat tanks under big loose open cardigans a lot when it was cool.

I liked Old Navy shirts in the "slub" material - really soft and thin and I've been wearing them the entire pregnancy. I liked maternity leggings, yoga pants, and anything jersey from Old Navy. I have a long foldover maxi skirt from the Gap that I got after someone raved about it on the boards and I agree its been wonderful. I liked my side panel jeans and low-panel black khakis for work from Old Navy. The maternity tanks from Liz Lange at Target (the ones with no shirring) are SO soft and cozy - I have them in every color. I actually got a few work appropriate dressy tops from the clearance rack at Target (all Liz Lange). My maternity swimsuits are also Liz Lange.

As for non-maternity things I've worn, I wear a lot of thin, long, open-front cardigans that are like the wrap you posted above. Great for layering. I also wear those tank tops they sell at Costco in the 2-pack. They are long and comfy and smooth your belly in clothing. Some of have shelf bras, some do not, and I wear them both. I wore Coobie bras until a few weeks ago when I couldn't stand anything on my ribs, so now I wear the shelf tanks with cutlets inside.

Oh and I second shopping the motherhood section at Macy's. It wasn't nearly so jam packed and I found they often had buy one get one half off instead of the buy three get one free promo that motherhood seems to frequently run. Ultimately it works out about the same as far as the discount but I didn't feel pressured to find four things I liked at once.

I'm pregnant with my first and at 12 weeks, am certainly no pro, but I'm in love with the basics bundle from Storq. The fabric is super soft, but still chic looking. It's comfy now, but looks good layered with my non-maternity cardigans and jackets. It's sized more like Nordstrom brands than the Gap.

Sooooo I'm only 7.5 weeks and my pants are already tight. I'm starting to get a little bump and have already gone up 1-1.5 cup sizes. I got some new bras (should I be buying nursing or regular) and some denim extenders. Now I am starting to get a bit more serious about buying some maternity clothes. I'm due in March and it's rainy/cold here starting in November. I work from home and rarely need to dress up much. I'm wiling to spend more on a few great pieces I will love and get a lot of use out of. I want to start buying a few pieces every month to spread out the cost. What do y'all think of this? http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/ingrid-isabel-cozy-maternity-wrap/3506097?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=0&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-1_1_A

Where do you usually shop for maternity besides Gap, Old Navy and Target?

What were your favorite maternity buys?
