I live in the mountains, and it gets cold, so I needed something, but refused to buy a maternity coat. I went to TJ Maxx, and found a reasonable option in size 2XX that fit over my belly. It was warm and kept me dry, which was important. I was quite warm during my pregnancy, if the coat was any heavier, I would have been a sweaty mess upon reaching the office.

I have a really long walk from where I have to park, into work, so I know that I need a maternity coat. I bought one from Motherhood, and I am hoping it will be warm enough (usually I do just fine all winter long in a similar weight pea coat). I hope that it works well, and since this is my first pregnancy, I figure I should get a bit of mileage out of it before we are done having kids.

I would definitely get a maternity coat. I tried to put off buying one and Charlie was born in December, but it was too cold and nothing I had fit so I had to get one. I should have got one sooner so I could get more use out of it. People sell maternity clothes for really cheap so if you can find a local site/listserv/resell store, you can prolly find one for cheap! I think some of the online resell/trade sites like thredup might have maternity clothes as well.

I'm due in May too, and I'm going to do the wait and see. My main winter coat isn't very tight, so I'm thinking it can last. Let's hope!!!! Maybe if I can't make it, I will buy a coat from the Salvation ARmy Thrift, in a larger size, just to make it. But I think I should be good. (Or maybe I'lll be laughing at myself for this naive post?!)

I was due at the end of April and I got a maternity coat from Isabella Oliver. I had a long walk to and from the train station so I really needed a coat with full coverage as it gets very cold in NY.

I didn't want to specifically buy a maternity jacket that I could only wear with one or two pregnancies. Instead I found a quality coat from J.Crew last year that worked perfectly to cover the baby bump and keep me warm. It only had two buttons and tons of extra material in the front. I even bought it in a size 0! I have already brought it back out to wear for this season.

I bought my maternity peacoat at target - but it wasn't warm enough so I bought a large northface that held up the whole winter.

I bought a maternity coat from Old Navy. I didn't need it till about 35-36 weeks (I could get by with bigger non-maternity coats), but I wore it every day till I delivered at 38.5 weeks, and I would have otherwise been realllllly cold. I think it was a worthwhile purchase.
I wasn't as cold during pregnancy as I normally am during the winter, so I didnt' need a super heavy coat, but I still needed SOMETHING.

I just bought a maternity wrap fleece jacket from Oldnavy.com today. I figured that it would work for most of the pregnancy. I don't plan on playing out in the snow or going out for long periods of time, so I figured it would work out well. It has a tie and cute hood too. Plus it was on sale and an extra 30% off today and cost $23 bucks! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=68131&vid=1&pid=855744&scid=855744002

I was due in March, but weathered the cold winter months sans Maternity Coat. I just layered and bought a few long maternity sweater/cardigans.
We had quite a bit of snow, but I was indoors most of the time. Drove to work and had to walk about 100 feet from parking lot to building.

I'm worried about this when the time comes for me too, I live in a very cold climate (temps frequently below zero) and the maternity coats sold by Motherhood and Target Maternity, etc are just not warm enough. HOWEVER, I did a quick search on eBay (yes, I like to overplan) and I found a few pretty warm looking coats very affordable. If you're not opposed to a used coat (could always have in drycleaned), that could be an option.

For those who were due in the spring or summer (and lived somewhere snow-producing, like me) did you get a maternity coat? If so, where did you get it and how much did you spend?

I'm due at the end of May. I have a few winter jackets and one has the *possibility* of lasting since it's a big puffy jacket and I have a little room to spare (but not a lot). Wondering if I should just wait and see how it goes? Maybe I won't get that big and won't need one at all? I suppose the downside to waiting is that sizes and styles may run out (or by the time I really need one, they may be all out)....?
