Target. Like $35. I refused to spend a lot on something I'd only wear a couple of months. It was so comfy though!

I bought an old Navy Maternity Coat. I got it around thanksgiving online so it was marked down. I needed a coat as I walk several blocks and wait outside for public transit. It was about $75 I think might have even been closer to $50. It was sort of dressy. For causal stuff I wore a fleece jacket that belongs to the hubs.

@citymouse: kind of. The sleeves were long, so I rolled them up. It was a reversable jacket, so the inside was fleece and the outside was water resistant, so it looked intentional.

I remember standing in the store with my husband, and I couldn't get the size 18 to close and he was just trying to be sympathetic, lol. I was a size 10 prepregnancy, so I know I looked comical, but I embraced it!

I REFUSED to purchase a maternity coat, so I got myself to TJMaxx and spent $25 on a size 2XX jacket that lasted me through the pregnancy and I also used it in the winter when babywearing.

I gave birth in December, in the mountains.

I have a huge Carhartt coat that I wore through my last pregnancy. Baby came the end of February, in the middle of a pretty severe North Dakota winter. The coat wouldn't zip over my belly, but I just wore huge hoodies and sweaters underneath and didn't spend a lot of time outside.

I had a J.Crew wool trench style coat that was a little big on me pre-baby, and I was able to belt it right until the end (Dec. 29 baby). But the last few months I felt like I was always extra warm from being pregnant that I didn't need to buy a maternity-specific winter coat and didn't get that cold.

I wore DH's North Face puffy, but since I was due in December (Chicago), I figured I'd only need the maternity coat for a short while. I looked at renting one from Mine for Nine, which might be another option. They rent by the month, so if you only need it for a short period, it might be more cost effective. My regular coats fit within the first week after LO's birth.

I was due in April but it's very cold here in January and February. I wore a men's North Face jacket that was plenty roomy. My regular ski jacket also fit until march. At the end, i couldn't zip either up, but I also started parking super close to the doors to work (visitor parking) and didn't have long to go. I also ran super warm. I couldn't justify an $80 coat that I might truly need only a couple of times. I wore gloves and scarves and sweaters, though!

I had a huge bump, in Canada, delivered in January. I bought a maternity coat on clearance right after getting my bfp. It didn't close around my belly after 36 weeks. At the end I bought an XL regular coat. The XL coat ended up being great for baby wearing, I could wear it around us both..

I was lucky that I didn't really pop until the worst of the winter was over. So I wore my regular coat up until Feb/16 weeks or so, then I had a lighter, but still wool, loose coat that I could keep buttoning until winter coat season was over. Then, by pure luck, my sister had a medium weight coat that had a big pleat in the back so it still zips over my 32 week belly.

I got lucky and found a sturdy non-maternity peacoat at my local thrift store for $7.50. I usually wear an XS and this was a M, with a slightly higher waist that gave me room for my bump, and the sleeves/shoulders weren't so big as to be totally awkward-looking. LO was born in December and this coat got me through early winter in Chicago.
