Both employers were prestigious NYC hospitals, but the second (with less maternity leave) was more prestigious. I'm grateful for the time they gave me, but it was basically me using all my vacation and sick days. Everything else for the rest of the leave period was unpaid. I think the second time around I want to take 12 weeks. Half of it will be on short term disability and the other half will likely be unpaid. Hopefully this time around we can squirrel money away beforehand to make this happen.</p> <p>I get really jealous of you ladies who get 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months...a year!!! </p>
