I would stay away from flowy fabrics since you want to highlight the curve of the bump, both above and below. So pick something that really hugs the belly. But personally I didn't do them until I was 36 weeks because I'm overweight and wasn't showing like I wanted to for pics until the very end. And I was lucky that I didn't swell so it was NBD. I was fine with it, didn't feel huge or tired or anything, but if we'd put it off any later there wouldn't have been photos because DD came three days afterward! It was winter so I just wore jeans and a sweater, they weren't very fancy photos.
