I just wanted to come back with an update -- I ended up splurging in the 'M' raincoat that oliviaoblivia linked to, so I thought I'd review it for anyone who finds this thread in the future. Funny thing, when I was debating about buying it, I went to a meeting for a club I'm part of and one of the other pregnant ladies there had the same jacket. She let me try hers on, which was super helpful and convinced me to order it.

The jacket is really well constructed. It's not as warm as my usual one, which has a thinsulate lining, but that's ok. I think it fits pretty true to size -- I'm 5'3" and about 125lb when not pregnant, and I probably could have gotten away with an XS (which my friend has) but my shoulders are a little broader than average and I wanted to be able to wear a thick sweater underneath so I got a S. The maternity panel makes it plenty roomy, I definitely can't see any problems with it fitting all the way to the end of my pregnancy.

The only thing I don't care for is that the zipper comes up a little too high past my chin and can sometimes be a little uncomfortable. Because I have the panel zipped in, it doesn't really work to leave it unzipped a bit, but wearing a scarf helps a lot.

Overall, the jacket isn't cheap but for those of us in rainy climates, I think it's well worth it!

@purplepeony: This is the store I bought it from: http://www.figure8maternity.com/viewItem.cfm?pid=1416400 but I think I had a coupon and it ended up being a little under $200 (which I thought was a little nuts but I was desperate for a decent coat!).

PS: I was so stoked about the babywearing aspect but honestly I tried it on over the Ergo and I looked kind of crazy big. Hahaha.

@PurplePeony: PNWer here too. I was pregnant both times during the "rainy" season (so, um, the entire 9 months of my pregnancy). I bought a rain jacket in an XL and was able to zip it over my belly.

Yep, PNW!

@Sapphiresun: I'm 25 weeks, due just before Christmas. So I'll be huge during the start of bad weather season and will have a newborn during the rest of it.

@dojo: The mamacoat looks awesome but it's not available anymore! :( It seems like a similar concept to the one oliviaoblivia posted about, love that they allow for easy babywearing.

I live in the PNW and I used the Mamacoat by Japanese Weekend and loved it! I used it right after my LO was born too and will continue to wear it as a normal coat since he panel is removable (which is how I justified the price). I thought it was pretty flattering for a maternity coat.

Pacific Northwest?

How pregnant are you right now? I was pregnant in Vancouver Canada Nov-August, and had to go with the umbrella 1) because I couldn't find a rain coat and 2) I was so HOT all the time that I walked around all winter in a T-shirt/light sweater.

But, I really have no actual leads. Sorry!

I am going to take a wild guess that you live here in the Pacific Northwest. Bummer about the end of summer. I searched high and low for a nice maternity coat, but didn't come up with much. There are a few very expensive options, but nothing that I really liked. I just wore my husband's bigger jacket.

Does anyone know where I could find a maternity raincoat? I live in a notoriously rainy place and it appears our lovely summer is over (waaah!). My normal outerwear from October to June or so is an insulated, hooded raincoat because it's just so much more convenient than carrying an umbrella all the time. But I've looked at a bunch of websites and can't find any decent waterproof (or even water-resistant!) jackets for pregnant ladies. All the outerwear seems to be blazer-type things or wool coats. I'm pretty short so buying a large size of non-maternity jacket isn't a great option because the sleeves will be way too long. Any ideas? Even Amazon was failing me...
