@regberadaisy: I was a little worried about this dress in particular, since it's lace and looks pretty "bridal", but she loved it--and her dress has no lace at all, so it won't look like hers or anything. There are 5 bridesmaids and 3 are wearing ivory and 2 of us champagne.

@regberadaisy: it's "champage", but all the bridesmaids are in ivory-champage with gold accents. I know we both posted before, but I have literally bought and returned 14 dresses online and wasn't happy with ANY of them until this one. And even with this one, I don't love the bust part, because it's more straight-across than it looks in the picture and I have huge boobs, so it isn't flattering....but it's still way better than any of the Asos or Modcloth dresses I ordered were.

I just wore the Belevation Mid-Thigh PettiPant yesterday for the first time and loved it! It was so comfortable and didn't ride up. The thing is, if you're looking for something to really suck you in tight, this isn't the one for you. It definitely smoothed me out but wasn't too tight at all. I'm going to be ordering more.

Bumping this thread. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding in 2 weeks and got this dress: http://www.seraphine.com/us/champagne-cut-out-lace-maternity-dress.html

The thing is, it's stretch lace, and it totally shows my underwear and bra lines. Has anyone ordered both the Assetts and the Spanx versions (they look similar, and I know assets is just the cheaper version) and compared them? I'm also worried about the section between my bra and the top of the spanx--will my chub pop out here?

I loved maternity Spanx. Made everything look smoother without smashing the bump and I felt like it supported my belly slightly.

@blackbird: oooh, thank you!!!! is it tight enough that it would smooth out love handles? I want something snug, but not too tight that it smooshes my belly.

@Littlebit: so did it do what you wanted in the love handle area? That is definitely my problem area!

Good question as I was going to ask something similar but more to deal with my thighs and chub rub. I remember in my last pregnancy getting the Assets one and hating them b/c the part that went over my bump was so thin, it was like the cheapest quality pantyhose and ran immediately. I returned them.

I know I'll be wearing a lot of skirts and dresses this summer so was looking for some maternity bike short or something similar. I might try the other one that @blackbird linked above.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I totally just bought some because I have this really form fitting Isabella Oliver dress and underwear always gives me a muffin top and really ugly butt panty lines, ha! I didn't want it super tight or anything, so I bought it in a "4" so it smooths and shapes without making me feel sausagey. I went off my height and weight chart pre-pregnancy, and i'm 5'11" and at the low end of the weight for this size, so i bought true to size. It's not super tight in the legs either, but stays down and doesn't give me lines.

I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HMLPLM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EKNUDWI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And they both would have been totally fine BUT the Assets one didn't roll down so much in the back (and i'm tall so maybe it's just a me issue) but the Slim Me brand cut below my bra strap a few inches and gave me sort of an unpleasant bra bulge back there. It just slipped too low for me. Both were very comfortable materials and gave me just enough support and shaped out my lower belly better (i have one of those really lovely flaps of skin at the very base of my bump from my first pregnancy that gives it a sort of squared off shape that i am self conscious about). I wore the Assets one to work one day and had ZERO issues with it rolling down or anything.

Long story short, I kept the Assets one and am really happy with it.

So, I have no interest in trying to flatten my bump or make it any smaller (once I have one). But I am wondering if there is any maternity shapewear out there that smooths out love handles and gives a smoother sillhouette on the sides, while still enhancing the bump and not smushing it?

When not pregnant, I wear spanx not to flatten my tummy or make my waist smaller, but to suck in my love handles/muffin top so my sillhouette is not lumpy in a form-fitting dress.

I really want to wear one of those tight, ruched maternity dresses one day!

So....anyone have any experience or recommendations?
