@mediagirl: Ya it might be much not to mention anything... seeing I know she was hurt the first time around. Honestly, if it hadn't been brought to my attention last year i wouldn't of made a big deal out of it... but clearly it bothers her, so I have to approach it in a way that seems logical and fair.

Can you get the pictures done by the friend who is a professional photographer and not publicly display them so your other friend doesn't know you had them done? Or is that a little much? I mean, if you are getting them for yourself and you want to put them up in your room or around your house, will your friend ever know that you decided to do them with someone else?

If that's too much drama, I would just tell friend #1 what you told us. You have a friend who owes you something and you're going to take advantage of that for maternity pictures. You would LOVE to have her (the friend you're talking to) take your new lo's newborn photos, though.

I would do friend #1 for both a maternity and the newborn shoots, and friend #2 for your maternity shoot. Just have 2 maternity shoots!

You can see the quality of the photography. One does it full time (#2) and one part time in her basement (#1) You can't even compare the two.

Plus, I rather promote a full time photog than one that does part time and doesn't think of going full time ever. You know what I mean?!

@Rachel: @artbee: Basically both are free so it's not costing me a dime, but at the same time I don't want to take advantage seeing I want to get a newborn shoot done with Sienna (with friend #1)

The second photog, I'm actually doing a trade with her (designing some promotional stuff for her biz) but it's WELL WORTH IT! I would hire her all the time. No joke.

Personally I would go with the better photog - you can't go back and re-do photos of such a special time! Can you maybe have both of them do a shoot for you? Tell your friend that you wanted indoors and outdoors shots (and then no one is hurt)? Plus since the so-so photog friend does it for free, you're not out any more $$ than you would be otherwise. Just a thought - good luck!

Hey if they're free... you could do both! I wish I had the problem of having to many photographer friends... I don't have any so I'm stuck with nothing. I don't see anything wrong with you saying that your other friend already offered.

I have a photoshoot dilemma and need your advice. I want to get some maternity pics done this pregnancy (didn't with my first) but I am having a mini conflict with photogs.

My good friend is a photographer, but not a great one. For the standard person shes great, but seeing I'm a designer and tend to be a little more detail oriented her photos are blah. Yet, she does any shoot I want for free. She did my day after shoot and Mavrick's 3 week pics and they were fine (with my direction and ideas)

When it was Mavrick's 1st birthday, I wanted blog worthy pictures, so I asked another photog friend (she is amazing!) well I heard through the vines that my friend was a little hurt I didn't ask her. I told her that she owed me a favor (seeing I had done stuff for this photog) but still... she would of liked that I would of asked her. (but her photos wouldnt of been as nice)

Now that I want maternity photos, my friend usually does in door shots and I want outdoor. So my other photog friend said she would LOVE to do my maternity shoot but I dont know what to do.

I personally want to go with photog #2 (same who did Mavis birthday pics) but I also dont want to hurt my friends feelings. I was planning on taking 3 week pics with baby girl and was going to ask my friend... so that way I was being fair.

How would you go about it? I can tell her that she offered to do my maternity shoot and seeing she doesnt take outdoor pics I much rather use her for the newborn shoot.

Ah... I hate friendship politics. I dont want to tell her she isnt good. Just not the right fit for me.
