@LindsayInNY: depending on the style you like, I got mine from J Crew. They have great skinny ankle trousers. Good for shorter legs too (they are "cropped" but on me they came right to the ankle which I love). They ARE only online to purchase, BUT if you know what you are normally in jcrew Id order the normal size and a size up And you can return in store! These are the ones I loved, and they are having a sale right now:
https://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/maternity/PRDOVR~92032/92032.jsp?color_name=navy

I also did like these from Gap before I got too big. Eventually I felt like these dug into my belly but earlier on they were fine.

I bought a pair of black pants from Gap and they've been wonderful. Ordered in my pre-pregnancy size, they fit great. I've been wearing them probably 3 days a week (don't judge - I don't have too many other maternity work clothes... :silly: ) since I was 18 weeks pregnant. I'm 32 weeks now, so they've held up fabulously for 14 weeks and seem like they'll do just fine for my remaining 8.

These are the ones I have: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1014426&vid=1&pid=761852002

ETA: The panel stays up, the pants never need "adjusting," and they are so comfortable!

I ordered a ton of stuff online and just returned it as needed. I probably kept 10% but it was just easier. Every time I tried to go shopping in a store they didn't have anything in my size or had a really tiny maternity section. I never had good luck with Pea in the Pod or Destination Maternity. I thought the prices were way too high for the quality.

I really love the gap perfect trousers. I wore them right through the end of my last pregnancy and bought more for this one! They stay up even though I have a tiny bump and they accomodated my huge-ness last time. They are boot cut which I know not everyone loves.

@PrincessBaby: I agree. I bought a dress, and a sweater from a pea in the pod. The dress is scratchy and itchy like wool, but is a cotton wrap dress. Plus it's see through, even though it's red. The sweater is paper thin, and it was regularly $98 (thankfully I got it for $33). Not impressed.
I also ordered the gap trousers for work, and I'm not in love with them. The material doesn't feel nice, and I don't love the fit. I'm still on the hunt!

I had these and like them okay--but in dark gray, not pinstripe. They aren't lined so they aren't super nice, but I liked the fit of them more than other maternity pants (they have a slimmer leg). http://www.destinationmaternity.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=932800291&MasterCategory_Id=MC27&green=C3D70617-11C6-5EBB-AF7E-E93A9E035BCE

I ordered some from A Pea In the Pod and they totally sucked. And beware that their return policy SUCKS. You can either return in the store for a store credit only or exchange for other items, or YOU pay return shipping. Since pretty much everything I ordered sucked (all APITP brand), it was going to cost $20 to use the cheapest method to return them. So I had to just eat it and get a store credit and that pissed me off SO BAD and made me never want to buy anything from them again.

Also beware that Ann Taylor Loft maternity has to be shipped back in, you can't return in store like you can normal online purchases.

A PP mentioned that the selection online is better and that's true, but just beware that for some reason, some retailers make it a huge hassle to return your items. And most are a 45 day return policy (from the day your order is placed, not when you receive it) and maybe I'm just a slacker with getting to the shipping store, but it's always a tight turnaround for me. I am with you, and I'll just suffer with what is available for me to try on in person.

APITP was the worst though, and in my experience, the only items that I've been impressed with from them were not their store brand. I had great luck with French Connection and BCBG maternity there, but they really burned my ass when their stuff was so crappy in the fit and quality and then they make it so complicated to return.

Another vote for Gap pants. I wore the demi panel skinny in the ankle length pretty much constantly throughout pregnancy. They work great with boots or flats and are far more flattering than my pants from motherhood.

I had a liz lange pair from target that I loved! They held up really well. The pair I had from Motherhood shrank in the wash and ended up with some weird bunching around the belly panel because of the pants material shrinking.

I wore a pair of Eileen Fisher black pants, but they weren't technically maternity, just really comfy :-) After those no longer fit I just switched to dresses. Luckily I only had to go to court a few times, in which case I just paired a black jacket I already had with a black dress. Luckily my office is pretty casual and client meetings are pretty casual too.

Have you tried thrift stores? I got some great maternity basics at thrift stores that were great for work--mostly dresses but that fit the season and the climate here. You can't beat the prices and things tend to be in pretty good shape.
