@junebugsmama: The Hyatt is great! We didn't stay there but had family that did so we were there a lot. Just watch that beach there, so much coral! I have some food recommendations if you want them also.

Thanks so much to everyone for their tips! We booked the tickets finally and did the Grand Walilea for the last 2 nights (including my 30th bday  ) because it seemed a bit more kid friendly and a bit cheaper than the Fairmont and 4 Seasons! So excited. Now we are just trying to decide what to do for the other nights, the first 3. Leaning towards the hyatt at Ka'anapali but we are gonna do a little more research and book something tomorrow. @SweetiePie: @lioneyes: @rattles: @gingerbebe: @hellobeeboston: @808love:

@gingerbebe: Oh the suite thing is a good point. We also do that when we travel with him now. If we can't get a suite, we aren't staying. Not because we fancy, it's because we just can't relax with a sleeping toddler in the same room! We also like a balcony/outdoor space for that reason.

We did Four Seasons for our honeymoon (we island hopped) and it was very nice. My good friend did Grand Wailea and loved it as well. From what I've seen I do think GW is MAYBE a little more kid friendly? I think they have a slide or something? But the Four Seasons was also very kid friendly.

Do either of them have drop off childcare? That would be the tiebreaker for me. I was a newlywed when we went so obviously didn't research that at the time. But last year we did a Mexican resort with our then-15mo and they basically had a daycare you could drop the kids off at. We did a couple hours and just napped and drank and read and swam alone and it was AMAZING.

the Four Seasons Maui is AMAZING and also kid-friendly. We were there on our honeymoon and the day we left, a million families arrived (Spring Break). They have an adults-only pool as well as the normal pool.

It's been a decade since I was there, but the Grand Wailea was awesome and I'd stay there again if we went back. I only ate at the Four Seasons, but it looked beautiful as well. The water park and activities at the Grand would be great with a kiddo in tow.

I know its not one of the options, but if you can, my friends swear by the Fairmont because they are all one-bedroom suites. So you can hang out in the living room area after the 2 year old is in bed for the night.

(We are condo people so we've stayed at the Grand Champions condos right across the street - super convenient).

@808love: it was soooooo gorgeous! hope to go back sometime! One of our favorite meals surprisingly, was the Fish Market in Paia - BEST FISH TACOS EVER.... and I see they just opened up another location in Kihei which is much closer to Wailea!@junebugsmama:

@hellobeeboston: I loved Fairmont Kealani. Just visited summer last year. That was absolute luxury!!!! The view was incredible. DH even borrowed a mountain bike from the front desk for a little joyride.

OMG fun - i don't think you can go wrong with either!

We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani which is right next to those two hotels - they're all connected via beach walk, so even if you stay at one, you can easily walk to the other.... Its so gorgeous!

@junebugsmama: Sure, anything. My favorite hole in the wall Italian is Fabianis, for the record. http://www.fabianis.com
Also not to add confusion but just more to consider...I use Trip Advisor a lot for things to do and places to stay and Four Seasons had a higher star ranking and cost slightly more. I love Four Seasons. If I had a choice today I would go to FS because they are guaranteed going to have top level luxury and I have been to GW. But if you want a litle more flavor and surprise, check out Grand Wailea.

You can't go wrong! My friends all pick Grand Wailea and that is where I have stayed and it was amazing. Four Seasons is my favorite hotel chain but I haven't been to the Maui one. Just Lanai's. You could always island hop and do Grand Wailea and then hit it to Four Seasons Lanai. It is really close. But I digress. I would go with Grand Wailea but I don't have anything to back it up other than it is gorgeous there and local people tend to pick that one.

We are planning a last minute trip and are gonna do a nice hotel for half the week. Anyone stayed at either the 4 Seasons vs the Grand Wailea? Which is more luxurious and a special experience? We will have our 2yo with us, if it matters?
