we went with the combi cocorro after having the mico. we haven't installed it yet (trying to push that mico usage to the end with my long baby!) but i liked the way it looked open!

@mrs. mochi: I think it depends on how long you see yourself keeping the same carseat. They are good for 6 years and I willlikely have another child so I will simply use Combi for the new baby down teh road and upgrade DD when the time comes. She is 13.5 months and still weighs 19lbs so she'll be fine for quite a while to come.

@mrs. mochi: Too bad it isn't more slender, we need to be able to fit 3 across (one of those being a backless booster so G has to be able to get to the belt)... I do like their tinyfit option though! Glad to see more convertibles being able to fit newborns!

With our seating configuration though we'll be sticking with the Combi for the new bebe.. we're okay with upgrading to another higher limit seat when the time comes though! :)

I think the comparison between the Pria and Coccoro isn't completely fair. Of course the Pria is going to be a big bigger and here's why:

Weight Limit (Rear-facing): 40 lbs (Pria) vs 33 lbs (Coccoro)
Weight Limit (Forward-facing): 70 lbs (Pria) vs 40 lbs (Coccoro)
Height Limit: 52 in (Pria) vs 40 in (Coccoro)

The Pria you can use longer not to mention you can keep your child rear-facing longer than you can in a Coccoro. The Pria might help save $ in terms of avoiding another upgrade in carseat down the road.

Additionally, I've seen the Pria installed in the following cars which I don't consider large:
Mazda3
Honda Civic
Chevy Malibu
Mini Cooper
BMW 328

@shopaholic: I have an SUV (JEEP) and the pria would fit but literally it would take up more than one seat and it woul block the passengers seatbelt buckles. Just something to think about. Just because it fits, doesn't mean it'll look good:/ and judging by your size, I doubt k will be some huge toddler, ya know?

@meredithNYC: @TurtleDoves: Love that you get it! ;) Wow! It does look big, but the kid in the 3rd pic looks just so happy and comfy! Something about the material or the lines of the Pria - just look smooth to me! I hope we get our bigger car before we need the convertible seat.

@littlebittyhouse: Glad to hear it fits in the Outback! We were looking at Tribeca for one of our SUV choices!

@PrincessBaby: for size comparison here it is and the combi
The 1st & 3rd are pria. The 2nd & 4th are CC. The CC is not much bigger than an infant seat in that 4th pic.

@shopaholic: @meredithNYC: it's gotta be cute. Come on....;)

@shopaholic: Just saw this after I wrote my reply, but I went with the Combi Coccorro specifically because I have a tiny Prius. I really like it, size-wise and aesthetically, which... I know is not all that important but I would rather have something attractive, you know?

I had the Maxi Cosi Mico infant seat, which we purchased before we even had a car, since we were still in New York at the time. I did it for the same reason you did - compatibility w/ the UBV.

When it came time to get a convertible, I was mostly looking for something compatible with compact cars since we now have a Prius. I went with the Combi Cocorro based on my research and so far, so good.

@shopaholic: have you seen the pria in real life? Especially when it's all set up in a car? It's really big and the opposite of sleek. The look of it is sleek but it's huge IMO. My aut has it and had the micro (I almost bought both because she loves both) but def decided against the pria based in size. I decided against the micro because we were gifted a Britax.

I'm considering the combi coccoro but did consider the pria based on how great it looks ;)

I don't have a Maxi Cosi infant seat, but the Pria was one of our top convertible contenders. It was nice, and looked so comfy. But it was huge! It was wider and bulkier than Britax seats...which are fairly bulky.

I received the piazzo travel system as a gift and thought the quality was great (it has a different bucket than the micro). I researched convertibles and really liked the Pria but in Canada it's only available at babies r us and wasn't carried yet. I ended up with a gifted Evenflo anyways but I still might get the Pria and move the Evenflo to my DH's car.

I bought the Perle umbrella stroller on sale since they have a new model and I love it. I like the brand.

I dont personally own a MC, but they are crazy common here in England. I can say I dont really see too many of the convertibles, even in stores.

I say just do some research and dcide what you like independent of brand. We've tried out a couple and I will say that the Recaro one we used a couple weeks ago was AWESOME. It was really well made and was very soft and comfy. We have a cheapy one now because we were limited ( had to buy a US carseat, selection was limited) but aim going to be looking into the Recaro ProRides when I get home in September.

I know there are a few of us who got the Maxi Cosi infant seat bc of it's compatibility w/UBV...If you used the infant car seat, did you stick with Maxi Cosi when you bought your convertible? I think Maxi Cosi has a few nice features and it has seemed a little nicer/has a few more conveniences than for instance the chicco carseat my mom has for H. Not sure if this is the case for the convertible...

Just wondering if you stayed with MC for the convertible...Why or why not?
