@catgirl: I think the Graco contender or mysize is what we got her oldest. It's still working great for him at nearly 4. I have nothing against them, I just want to make sure this one is set for as long as possible. Even though our other friend and I don't want to buy all of their carseats, if we can avoid it.

@Sams Mom: if she is going to use it from the beginning I would probably skip the graco slimfit, it's hit or miss on fitting newborns. And the safety first I mentioned will be outgrown about a year before the 4ever (based on harness height). So if you are definitely going with a multimode I would, honestly, stick with the graco 4ever.

If you decide to look into convertibles, though I understand if you don't, I would look at the graco contender, graco sequel/sequence, graco size4me/mysize/fit4me, or the graco extend2fit. They would get small and average kids to booster age.

@catgirl: it probably will (she has small babies), but a highback booster or even a harnessed booster is much cheaper than a RF to FF and hopefully at least harnessed booster. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Sams Mom: It's so nice of you to be doing this. Just keep in mind a convertible with high limits could still last until the child is 4-6, depending on stats.

@catgirl: I love my 4 ever also, just wanted to make sure I wasn't being biased.

We want a multimode one for her because carseats have gone too long with her 4 year old and we bought one and sent it to him for his 1st or 2nd birthday because he was still in his bucket and his head was over the top. Her MIL kept telling them not to buy one, and that she was going to buy one... Annnd, we just bought one because MIL was never going to.

Oh, and for suggestions. If you definitely want a multimode seat I would look at the safety 1st grow and go EX, the graco slimfit, and the graco 4ever.

I would also consider just getting a convertible seat. The booster mode on most multimode seats tend to be bulky, short lived, and uncomfortable as kids get bigger - this has to do with them sitting up higher than traditional boosters.

I say this as someone who has and loves the 4ever, but my DD will likely outgrow it before she is old enough to switch to a booster and then by the time she is old enough AND mature enough she may not fit in the booster.

I don't have personal experience but find CSFTL to provide really helpful reviews. They are not big fans and find it to be difficult to install.

Anyone have personal experience with one? I am shopping for an all in one for a friend's baby shower gift (plan to go halvsies with another friend). We're looking at the $250 ish give or take price range. This one came up in an Amazon search @ $253.30 in certain colors.

She drives a 2010 Tucson, and her almost 4 year old is in a forward facing/harnessed booster/highback booster convertible Graco (not sure of the model). I imagine she'll have the baby behind the passenger and move her 4 year old to behind her (if that matters).

I have the Graco 4Ever, which I'm looking at too, but am open to suggestions. (I always assumed Maxi-Cosi was out of our/my price range)
