@mamaof2, suppressing your hunger, chemically, isn't a good idea, either. If you're hungry, you need to eat. It's your body's way of saying it needs fuel. You just need to eat the right things to quell that hunger. Unless what suppresses hunger is the protein in it (which, protein is proven to do. There's a reason a turkey sandwich is more filling than a giant bowl of cereal). In which case....well, you can eat real food with protein and get full :)

But yeah, like @thou said....if you don't learn how to eat to lose or maintain a lower weight, then you'll just gain it all back, then you'll go back on the shakes...which, of course, makes the company money.

I agree with @blackbird: wholeheartedly. 11 grams of protein isn't even worth it! You can get the same amount of protein in a carton of Greek yogurt for less than $1. I don't see any other ingredients that make it look worth $4 a pop.

I don't think these are good diets because its not about learning how to eat correctly for your body. Its unrealistic to think you'll be drinking ShakeOlogy when your 60.

Now if you're using it here and there in a pinch instead of grabbing fast food or to supplement after a hard workout, sure!

Agree that these shake plans just make you lose weight because the calories are so low and you basically just starve. Its better to eat "real" food.

@blackbird: the ideal shake is suppose ot have something to suppress your hunger - that's one of my problems - I am always hungry!

I would use milk instead of water so that's another 110 calories per shake.

Yeah, I don't want to starve myself - maybe I will try one shake for breakfast and then eat a healthy lunch and dinner.

I have, and I think they are great in a pinch...you're on the go, etc. But seriously, two shakes a day instead of food? Your body needs you to chew in order to realize it's got food in its stomach. My problem with them is that my body breaks it down super fast (as opposed to equivalent food) and then I'm super hungry. They always have protein in them, which is great! These have 11 grams, which is sad. And protein is best right after a heavy work out...but you can supplement with protein, it doesn't have to replace your actual meals. So you can have, for breakfast....eggs and an apple, plus a protein shake. You get some fat, some carbs, some protein. And you'll actually feel full. Shakeology comes out to like $4/shake or something insane. It's basically protein powder plus vitamins.

So...2 shakes/day, plus 2 snacks+healthy dinner. Shakes are, 120 calories each? So:
shake: 120
shake: 120
snack: 200
snack: 200
dinner: 400

Yep, not even 1100 calories/day! You'll lose weight b/c you'll starve. Or you'll binge on dinner.

Has anyone ever done a meal replacement shake?

I am trying to eat better but its so hard!!

I am doing great at exercising a minimum of 5 times a week - for the past 2 weeks anyways - plan on keeping this up!

Anyway - I was looking into Shakeology and came across IdealShake - its cheaper and lots of reviews say its tastes better than Shakeology.

I was thinking about doing it for 2 weeks (2 shakes a day and then 2 snacks and a healthy dinner) to see if I can kick start a weight loss.
