They get something bland that they will always eat. DS1 pretty much will always eat plain rice so I always have a pot of multigrain rice in our rice cooker on hand. Usually I can get him to eat it with some seaweed snacks. If he has some milk and fruit, I call it good and live to fight another day. But no treat type foods that night.

Lunch time: I give him 2 options (one is usually one I know he'll eat, like pb&j or mac and cheese) and once I make it, that's it. No going back

Dinner time: I make him take a few bites and usually that's enough to get him eating it. If he is really refusing it after trying it or not liking it I may give him one alternative. Again, once it's made, that's it. I'm not going to make a bunch of different things!

We are there right now! My 2 year old comes home with her lunch uneaten, and barely touches her dinner most times. She'll ask for something else, like fruit. I tell her that if she takes at least 3 bites, she can have a little fruit. If she does it, I give it to her. If she doesn't she doesn't get any.

I don't fix her another meal. Usually she's fine and in a few days, she'll have a day of great eating. I don't want to set the habit of giving into her, so that's what I've been doing. She doesn't look like she's starving, so I'm ok with the arrangement for now.

When your LOs go through the phase of being super picky about what they eat, what do you do? Do you give in with alternatives? Let them go hungry? Make them stay at the table until they eat?

Both of mine have felt increasingly difficult lately, so I'm hoping someone knows something brilliant I haven't thought about.
