@littleveesmommy: Not sure if its an option for you but the CDC just revised their vac schedule saying that babies as young as 6 months can get the MMR shot, only stipulation is that it means they will need 2 follow up shots to make sure the vaccine is effective. We live in Socal and LO's dr said LO could get the vaccine early but he didn't think it was necessary. He just said if we go to any public places to make sure that we wash our hands like crazy. Still I am super paranoid.

@LuLu Mom: I thought the zoo would be off limits because it's a tourist attraction similar to amusement parks, which are also outdoors. I'd love to go to the zoo! Just not sure if it's a good idea. Definitely not the best time to be traveling to the west. :bummed:

I actually think the zoo should be more safe than other places, it's outside, out in the open, just avoid the indoor areas of it?

Hi everyone! We are traveling to Cali (near L.A.) in early March to visit family for 10 days and I have some concerns with the recent measles outbreak. LO1 is 3 yo and vaccinated but LO2 is 7 months so she has not received her first MMR shot yet. We will, of course, be avoiding zoos, amusement parks and indoor crowded spaces (i.e. childrens museums). I do still want to explore but - what is left that is safe? I am thinking we can do beaches for sand play, winery (for the adults and LO1 can run around), and... well, that's all I can think of. Any suggestions?
