I chose the freestyle bc it's compact and you don't have to keep it in a bag. I like to be able to take it with me easily around the house without carrying around the entire bag. It holds a charge for a long time too which is definitely a bonus bc you don't have to be close to an outlet

I have the PISA but also bought a bra to pump hands free! It's great :) http://www.diapers.com/p/simple-wishes-hands-free-breast-pump-bustier-34614?site=CA&utm_source=cse&utm_medium=cpc_D&utm_term=SPW-001&utm_campaign=Google&CAWELAID=1338623855&utm_content=pla&ci_sku=SPW-001&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw={keyword}

I have the Freestyle and I LOVE it!! I take public transportation to work and a seat is not always guaranteed so I love how small and portable it is. I also use the Lactina at home and I'm able to produce the same amount of milk with both machines.

I got the Pump in Style. It was highly recommended by several of my friends who work full time.

For the little difference I got the freestyle.

I love how compact it is and that it comes out of the bag. Also, the screen has a light which can be nice for night time pumpings (I don't think PISA has this feature).

The actual pump parts are different between two. A lot of women report that after frequent use you have to replace the membranes of the PISA pumps after 2-3 months (or you loose pump strength) but after using my freestyle and rotating between two sets of membranes I am fine 6 months + later.

@NYCaliMama: @mediagirl: Yup! Just came back to work last week and I LOVE the Freestyle. It's so easy and compact. I throw my pump, the bottles and pieces I need in it's bag along with my wallet (and Kindle to read while I pump!) and off I go.

That's one thing I like about it, I can throw my storage bags, wallet, keys, book etc in the bag with the pump. It takes up hardly any room.

So far, pumping 2-3 times a day, 10+ minutes at a time, it will hold it's charge for a week and a half which I think is great!

@purrpletulips: oh yes, I tried the hair bands thing! I saw that on Kellymom. It didn't work for me though because the bands were too weak to carry the weight of the horns/bottles/milk... But some moms are able to do it. I had to get the hands-free bra instead.

If you are going back to work, the Freestyle's size is, in my opinion, the biggest advantage over the PIS. The Freestyle is most definitely easier to carry around... It fits in the palm of my hand.

I've had both pumps... as far as quality, I think both are equal.

I was able to buy the Freestyle with my FSA plan so I didn't feel the higher cost too much.

The hands-free kit that comes with the Freestyle seemed complicated to me, but I never really gave it a chance. I already had the hands-free bra from my first child. If one figures it out, no extra bra needed... Could help justify the added cost? I think any hands-free contraption/bra is a must for any pumping mom!

I didn't get a Medela pump the first time but am considering it now that I'm pregnant with #2 since I didn't pump much volume with my other pump. I'm interested in the outcome too. I like the portability and size of the freestyle but wonder if running only off battery power causes pumping to take longer?

I've never tried this but am told that you can make pretty much any pump "hands-free" by using hair ties on the horns and hooking those to the clips from your nursing bra.

@winniebee: I have that bra...just not the pump yet. :) Does the bra take the place of what @obxwife mentioned? The part where you can hook the pump over your neck?

@obxwife - didn't you just go back to work recently? Is the Freestyle easy to tote back and forth with you?

All of my working mom friends still got the Pump in Style rather than Freestyle. I debated but ultimately went w/ the Pump in Style. There's a hands free bra on Amazon that I hear is very good, too! http://www.amazon.com/Simple-Wishes-Pumping-Bustier-Medela/dp/B003Y01MQY/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1336592918&sr=1-1

I have the Freestyle and I'm in LOVE. The hands free straps make it so easy to strap it on, clip on the tiny pump and walk around the house doing chores. Many morning, LO will only eat one breast so being able to make breakfast and do my hair while pumping the other is AWESOME.

My sister has a Medela that has to be plugged in and it's in the bag (not sure what model) and although she loves it, she's tethered to the outlet.

There is about an $80 difference between the two. Is it worth it to get the Freestyle if you are going to be pumping a lot (at work and at home)?
