So I didn't use both but I EPed with my PISA and it held up extremely well. Never had any milk in the tubes. A bit cumbersome to transport around the house , but I had a "pumping station" in our bedroom that I plumped down in to pump each session ... It was my "me" time :-)

The milk won't necessarily get into the tubes every time you pump with the Medela pumps. It's just a possibility. If it does you need to just replace the tubes (you aren't supposed to wash them because mold will grow).

Like PP I've never had milk back into the tube and I'm not sure how it would when you look at how the tubes/bottles are assembled.

Haven't used both, but I've never had a problem with milk getting in the tubes of my Medela. I know it's possible, but my experience is that it's not something that happens on a regular basis...in fact, I'm not sure what would make it happen other than letting the bottles get so full that the milk backs up into them.

I hated the ameda. It was not efficient and did not work, I'd say perhaps I got a lemon but I've talked to several people with the same experience, so maybe their quality control is just that bad. In fact after getting it from insurance, I tossed it and bought the medela. I now own 2 medela PIS because I WOH and they both work amazingly for me.
In comparison, I was getting 0.5 ounces total from the ameda abd it hurt every time I'd pump and I'd get 2-3 from the medela and it was so much more comfortable.
Also I've never had milk get in the tubes of the medela

This is my second breast pump poll, but I need to make a decision and I'm just torn. I can get either of these from my insurance. Based on my last poll and research it seems like:

Medela- possibly a little more efficient at getting milk out, possibly quieter (some debate on both those issues), pump parts more widely available, but harder to clean because milk gets in the tubes.

Ameda- Easier to transport around your house (I will use it 99% of the time at home), easier to clean/possibly more hygienic because the milk doesn't get in the tubes, easier to customize pump settings (although some people didn't like that because you had to think more), some people said this was more efficient than Medela.

Ugh.

If you've used BOTH, can you give me your opinion?
