I have the medela pis and haven't had any problems with condensation yet. But I don't use it every day. We'll see how it goes once I go back to work and I'm pumping every day. But like the others have said there are ways to clean them.

Welcome! I always let mine run a few minutes after pumping to dry out the tubes & also cleaned with rubbing alcohol every once in awhile. You can also buy extra tubing where you buy the pump parts :)

I have the Medela Freestyle and have never gotten milk/condensation in those tubes. The tubes are actually different than the pump in style ones. I think the Ameda ones are a closed system one so there shouldn't be a problem with milk/condensation in the tubes.

Thanks for the advice! It is good to hear that the tube issue can be worked around and the pump is still a good pump! :) I also saw an old post about cleaning the Medela pump so that was helpful!

I second what @pelikila said. I have the Medela PIS and if there's condensation in the rubes, I just disconnect the tubes from the bottles (after I"m done pumping) and let it run for a minute to dry it out. Works like a charm!

I have the Medela PIS and I love it. I've never tried the Ameda one but I've heard good things about that one too.

For condensation build up in the tubes, just disconnect from the bottles once you are done pumping and let it run and extra minute or two as usual and the tubes will dry out, no problem. You definitely want to do this often so no mold grows. Also, you can sanitize the tubing using the steam bags and drying by running rubbing alcohol through them.

I have the Medela pump (double electric one), and have found that some milk/condensation gets into the tubing sometimes. You can disconnect the tubing from the machine though, and it seems to be pretty easy to clean. I just disconnect the tubes and run really hot water through them, blow excess water out (like through a straw) and then hang them to dry.

I have also noticed a little trick: when you are holding the pumping parts on your breasts, if you press the tubing upwards so the tubes are more vertical on the end where it connects to the pumps, the milk doesn't seem to get into the tubes - I can't find a good way to describe it, but when you have the pump you'll be able to just push the tubing upwards a little with your hands/fingers while you pump. That seems to help too.

Hi! I've been reading Hellobee for a while now, but this is my first time to post! I have a 2 week old little boy and am shopping for a pump now (I plan to pump some now and daily once I return to work in 10 weeks). I am confused on which pump to purchase... I have heard good things about the Medela Pump In Style, but a lot of the reviews I've read online mention milk and/or condensation getting into the tubing. Have any of you found this to be a problem? Is the Medela a better pump than the Ameda Purely Yours? (That is the other one I am considering). Thanks in advance for any advice!!!
