@Mrs. Chen: there is a place in the Seattle Area called Pacific Mothers Support Inc, that carries Medela and Ameda. They will ship, and I know they are a blue cross preferred provider.
ETA: never mind. Saw you already ordered.

@chillybear, @bluebonnet: Thanks! I would have never known insurance covers breast pumps. Good to know! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and they told me they cover 100% of electric pumps but I must get it through an in network durable medical provider. I got so excited but then so far all the providers I've called don't carry breast pumps. Ugh! There's one that carries a brand called Hygeia? He said he doesn't know of any other medical providers that carry Medela because they are really snobbish and picky about who carries them. Boo!

@mrsmenow: Thanks for your input!!

@mrsjyw: Thanks for the price match and coupon tip! Wow you got a great deal! Score!

@sunny: I'll check out the PIS Metro bag too! Thanks!

I have the PIS and it works great. I haven't used the Freestyle so I can't compare. I think the parts are compatible between the Swing and PIS. Not sure about the Freestyle!

Oh and a compromise on space might be the PIS Metro bag. The motor comes in its own small cube and you can put it in whatever bag you wish to carry vs. the backpack/tote bag style of the PIS which requires you to carry the entire backpack because the motor is sewn in.

See what insurance covers.

I have the freestyle and it is AWESOME - so light, which is really nice when you are lugging it back and forth to the office.

i have both the freestyle and the generic medlea PIS comparable pump that i use at work.

the freestyle was great during maternity leave and around the house for the portability.

but at work, i prefer the outlet because it's a better suction and easier pump with the limited amount of time. i'm in a private office pumping, so i dont really need the portability feature of the freestyle.

fwiw, if u cant get one thru ins, both BBB and BRU honor "price match" + 20% off coupons. i was able to get my freestyle for 189 after both of those + a lil left on giftcards!

I have used both and if you are only going to pump at work in a stationary spot than I would save the money and go with the PIS.

I will pump in the car if we are going somewhere and I can't BF LO and will sometimes pump after LO goes to bed and I am getting things ready for the next day. So for my purposes I prefer the Freestyle.

my first recommendation would be to look into your insurance policy and see if they will cover the cost of the pump and what models they cover

2nd i chose the PIS but i havent had to use it yet

My one registry regret is choosing the Medela Swing pump. It was fine when I was on maternity leave but now that I am back at work, it is taking way too much time to pump one breast at a time. I started looking into double pumps today and holy cow they are expensive! But I think it would still be worth it. LO is 4.5 months old and I pump at 5x a day. I just wish I had invested in one from the start! Oh well. With that said, I would love to get some double pump recommendations! It seems like a lot of moms prefer the Freestyle over the Pump In Style because the Freestyle is portable and can be battery operated. I don't think that's a necessity for me because I currently pump almost 100% of the time next to the outlet. And if I do need to pump on the go I guess I always have my Swing. So in my case, would you recommend the PIS? Or am I not thinking of other situations in the future where Freestyle would be better? I want to make sure I get the right pump this time around! What do you think?
