Agree with getting an antibiotic, you don't want to have that infection keep growing or possibly spread into something more dangerous.

I 3rd the neti pot recommendations - nothing dangerous about it and works just as well against viruses as it does against baceteria, allergies, etc. Hope you feel better!

@purrpletulips: @Mrs. Jump Rope: @Mrsdaredevil: @Mrs. Jacks: @birdofafeather: @artbee: @mrs. bird: Thanks for chiming in ladies. I took your advice and went to the doctor today. I have a viral infection, which also means no meds are available to counter it. It'll take about 2 weeks for it to exit my system. Yay me!

doctor is always a good idea if you suspect you have an infection, but in the meantime- a netipot, steamy shower, chicken soup, tylenol, vicks vapor rub or shower soothers (love these! they look like a little puck you put in the shower & it works with the hot water to make this steam that opens you right up). hope you feel better soon!

i would 2nd going to your doc if you've been sick that long. i would also recommend a neti pot (love it for sinus stuff!)

i also found this chart on babycenter for approved OTC meds: http://www.babycenter.com/0_chart-over-the-counter-medications-during-pregnancy_1486462.bc

@Mrsdaredevil: Actually colored mucus usually indicates that good infection fighting cells are moving in :) People often think it's a sign of sinus infection or something... but it really isn't.

I agree with others recommending a quick visit to your provider.

(Blah, blah, post not intended to be medical advice, blah, blah).

I took Mucinex and Tylenol Cold and Flu when I was sick. Recommended by my doctor.
I would go to the doctor though and make sure you don't have an infection of some sort. Colored mucus is usually an indication of one!

@Alivoo01: I agree, see a doctor!

To answer your question, I was able to safely take Tylenol products with the approval of my OB. I never took *anything* without consulting them first, though.

If you suspect an infection, go see a doctor for antibiotics. When I first got pregnant with LO, I got a bad sinus infection but was able to take amoxicilin without any problems.

I know lots of meds are on the no-no list for pregnancies. However, I'm currently in my TWW and I've been sick since last Saturday. I know I have an infection due to the color and consistency of my mucus and snot (I know, gross. Sorry!). I also have been having head congestion/pressure along with periodic coughs. I feel so blah and am ready to feel better already. What recommendations have you heard from your docs that are okay to consume?
