First one hurt, second one wasn't as bad - and I think the second got my contractions started! Didn't throw me into labor but it def moved things along. The first time it was super painful to the point where I was in tears and like omg I don't know if I can push out a baby if I couldn't handle that pain for two minutes. It really didn't hurt that much more than a Pap smear to me. It seems like if your body is ready it might be a jump start, but i havent heard the arguments against. I had it done at 40+2 and 40+5 and it was uncomfortable but not truly painful for me. I ended up with an induction at 40+6 but it was worth a shot.
