@googly-eyes: that's exactly what happened to me - a referral to a counselor. I'm sorry you ended up in the ER! :( hope things are better now!

@cmomma17: I think an ob can, but mine just referred me to a counselor, not wanting to start meds unnecessarily. Then I ended up in the ER, and then followed up with my regular dr who started me on meds right away.

My OB prescribed meds for me (actually wrote the script for 100mg tablets but told me to cut them in half and only take 50mg so I wouldn't have to pay so many copays). I took 50mg Zoloft for about 9 months. Although there are times when I think I probably should still be taking the meds.

@LovelyPlum: so sorry for your loss too :(

Ladies who did take something: what did you take and for how long? And when did you start feeling better? (Maybe a separate thread?)

@grizz: I just feel like "Again?", I thought I had this depression/anxiety thing managed! Some days though I'm just soooo tired and sit like a lump unable to do anything (and I know that's not normal).
I always wish I had gone sooner too! But hey, at least we went at all! Hope you're feeling much better

@lilteacherbee: thanks :) I'm so sorry for your loss, hope you're feeling better

@yoursilverlining: thanks! hope you're feeling much better. a ppd specific counselor sounds great!

My OB prescribed meds and also gave me a referral to a counselor who specialized in PPD, instead of just a regular counselor. Good luck with everything.

@cmomma17: No shame in it at all. You will feel better for yourself, and for your LO. I waited 3 months before taking meds, and now I wish I had done it sooner. It's a hard place to be in, but after you get help and support, the only way is up :)

@grizz: thanks  I'm going back and forth. I'm trying not to feel bad/broken/like a failure if I do need meds. I've taken them in the past, and I've done counseling before as well. I just hate that I'm here again.

I have an appointment today (annual checkup) and. I'm going to mention how depressed I feel at 6 months pp. Just curious, if meds were part of a treatment plan, would my OB prescribe them or would I go to my regular doctor?
