Just an update - I emailed the company and they were super helpful! Basically said DD is good in the suit until she can roll over while IN it! So we're safe for now!

I was always told that they can be in it until they rolled in it. My daughter was in it for a few months after she could roll because she couldn't roll in it yet.

@MrsADS: DD is 4 1/2 months (20 weeks) and we're just starting it... I just put her in the suit last night on her back in her crib. She's napping in a crib at daycare without any issues so I need to do it at home. The pediatrician said we would know when she's done being swaddled. She's not breaking out per se but I feel like maybe she's starting to try? I don't know. I don't know if there's any easy way to transition though other than just doing it... We did put her in the crib the other weekend while swaddled but she slept like crap, waking up a bunch (could be due to any number of reasons though).

Can someone explain to me how you use the suit to transition out of the swaddle? Like how old is your LO and how did you do it?

LO is 11 wks and still firmly swaddled, although I know in the next month or so we're going to have to start thinking about this and I don't know what to think... he also still sleeps in a RnP.... sigh.

@LindsayInNY: he woke anywhere between 1-3 times at night still, but I think it would be worse without the suit! Also I don't mind that it keeps her super warm! Actually when we took her out of it, she started STTN! But I think she was also ready by then so it didn't really have much to do with the suit. But man, I loved that thing.

@LindsayInNY: I'm confident she will be fine! It really is hard to roll in that thing. After that we just went cold turkey and it took like 2 days but DD totally adjusted fine (I thought it would take weeks)

@LindsayInNY: we also used the Merlin suit way after LO 1 was rolling out of the suit. She started rolling around 4 months, but we used the suit till 7 months. She never once was able to roll in the suit, but around that time, she started wanting to sit up in the suit, and would strain a lot trying to sit up, so then we transitioned to the sleep sack.

It's almost impossible for little ones to roll in that thing.

Don't go by me b/c what I did probably wasn't safe for everyone but I knew my baby so I was comfortable.

DD used the merlin suit till she was almost 7 months I think! While she could roll whichever way, I think b/c she was so accustomed to being swaddled/being in the suit, she didn't really move in her sleep. Also, we cosleep so I knew I'd know if she rolled.

Yeah, I agree with @Truth Bombs. Once she's rolling, I don't think it's safe to use. Even if she can't roll in the suit today, she may tomorrow and unless your watching a monitor all night, you probably wouldn't know until she was in a potentially dangerous position. It sucks - my daughter was a swaddle addict and we quit cold turkey once she started rolling. It was rough for a week or so, but then she was fine. On the bright side,if her sleep is crappy already, things can only improve.

@Truth Bombs: Yes. When she's on the floor, she rolls pretty much non-stop in all directions. I used the suit for the first time last night and could see her lifting her legs up before falling asleep. So it has me a little worried... We've only used it once so I don't know if she can roll IN the suit though.

DD is still swaddled in a Halo SleepSack Swaddle and sleeping in her hammock thing. We need to transition her to her crib in the hopes that she'll start sleeping better. I don't know if she's ready to be in swaddled so we're trying the Merlin suit. She can still move a good amount in it, I don't know if that's normal or not. She stayed on her back all last night but I worry she'll roll in it. Is she safe to be in it until she rolls while in it? I need this crap sleep to stop before I lose my mind.
