Didn't work for dd. Ordered it at 4 months because I was still nervous about letting her sleep on her tummy. Didn't work, and dd promptly woke herself up with her startle reflex.

Unfortunately, it didn't work for us when we introduced it at 4 months, but as you can see it worked for other babies. My LO wanted to move around in her crib and sleep on her side. The Sleep Suit prevents movement so it wasn't the right thing for her. I voted to get it used so that you can try it out and not have to pay full price.

@ladybee: We are still using our daily for naps and nighttime. The suit immediately started working for naps--she went from 40 minute naps to 2 hour naps with some very gentle sleep training.

Night was harder. She slept *slightly* better than totally unswaddled but it definitely doesn't magic for us. HOWEVER, it helped with the initial falling asleep part...we are able to just lay her down now and she puts herself to sleep. But she didn't stop her multiple night wakings until we sleep trained earlier this week.

Still worth it to me. Swaddled and unswaddled she was literally waking up 6-8 times a night. With the suit, she woke up 2-3 times on a good night, and 4-6 on a bad night. With the suit and sleep training, she woke up just once last night.

We used the Magic Sleepsuit to move LO out of the RNP and into the crib. It worked well... I guess she still felt cuddled in it? It also muffled her startle reflex well, and though she could get her hands to her face if she wanted, it generally kept them away. She used the sleepsuit for 2 months or so before we decided that it was a bit annoying (we only had one, and she was definitely dependent on it). Weaning LO from the sleepsuit has been a bit of a challenge, though, so be prepared if you decide to go that route.

I can't speak from personal experience yet, but one of the teachers at our daycare said that it has worked wonders for every baby they've had who's used it for naps (they are not allowed to swaddle). Ours is in the mail!

@ladybee: Oh I just saw the part about scratching. We basically used the ZZ to swaddle wean. She still moves a lot and rubs her face in her sleep, but it doesn't wake her up like it used to. There is some resistance with the ZZ.

We loved the suit, made the transition out of the swaddle very easy! We started at 3.5 months and continued until about 5.5 months. For us, was def worth it!

It worked for a couple weeks then stopped. She was in a terrible sleep place at the time though. She liked sucking on her hands too and I think the stiff arms of the magic sleep suit made it too hard for her. But it helped for a few weeks and honestly, that alone was worth it. She was a baaad sleeper.

I'd go with a zipadee zip. We have two and love them. Hands are covered so she can't scratch herself but she is still able to suck her hand (she sucks her hand to sleep at night).

ETA: we introduced the ZZ a little before 4 months.

yes! our LO was the same way, tried to break out of the swaddle but would startle herself. The suit is worth it. They can still get to their hands, when we sleep trained she ended up finding her thumb. We started using it when she was about 3.5 months and I wish we had used it earlier. She is now six months and still in the suit (bigger size). She rolls over but has not tried in the suit.

It worked wonders for us! I was planning on weaning him because he is starting to outgrow it... but it just works so well. I don't want to mess with it! He was a swaddle addict, and this solved the problem. ETA: I also wanted to transition him because he has started to roll, but he just can't seem to do it in this suit. We started him on this when he was about 5 months.

My LO did the same things... startled himself and clawed at his face. He can still reach his face in this but it seems to take a little more effort. His problem is losing his binky which is a whole separate issue ;)

It wasn't successful for us. C needed a tight swaddle and it allowed for too much movement unless we were willing to sleep train, which we were not at the time.

I keep going back and forth on ordering one. LO is 12 weeks old and sleeps 3 hour stretches most nights. He doesn't enjoy the swaddle but scratches his face and wakes himself up with flailing. On the same note, he likes to suck his hand. Worth the $40?

Thoughts?
