I have the Merlin. I'm not sure if you would call us a success or a fail. It's cold here, so it's been great for keeping my LO warm enough without blankets (I use a fleece sleeper under it, as well as socks on her hands). It definitely muffled her arms and legs from flailing about and it keeps her from rolling onto her tummy at night, which is good at this point because she rolls but has forgotten how to roll back and so she gets VERY uspset and cries and that would disturb her sleep.

However, it wasn't "magical' in suddenly making her sleep amazingly well. She's been a bad sleeper for a while now and the swaddle stopped working for her around 3 months (she went from waking up twice a night to waking up 5-6 times a night swaddled). Then we tried totally unswaddled in just PJs and she woke up 6-7 times a night. THen we tried the merlin and she went to 3-4 wakeups a night. So...still bad.

She's 5 months and we use the Merlin for naps and night time sleep. It definitely acts as a sleep cue now because she calms down immediately after putting it on (she hates the act of putting it on, but once it's on, she's very calm). Her naps have improved dramatically but I'm not sure if that's the Merlin or just where she is developmentally.

long story short: I like it and continue to use it, but it's not magic for us.

It's time to start weaning my 5 month old twins from being swaddled. They have been swaddled from day 1 and I'm terrified! I've looked at both the Zippadee Zip and the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit as a transition from swaddling, but I'm not sure which one to get. Any recommendations? Would love to hear some success (or fail) stories!
