@Mrs. Polish: Sorry about the thread jack! Just an FYI, if you're not on the extended release, you're supposed to take one with each meal. I accidentally got that kind last time, instead of the extended release, and I was taking them all at once at night like I was used to, and my blood sugar was getting high by the end of the day.

@MrsCB: definitely check with the OBGYN! Maybe they can recommend another endocrinologist?

@MrsCB: hmmm, I'm pretty sure it's a category B drug but I'd check that. The OBGYN's office was OK with me staying on it too.

@MrsCB: yes. My RE told me to stay on it for the whole time. The endocrinologist actually upped my dosage so I wouldn't have to go on insulin for the GD.

@swedishfish: Your doctor let you stay on it your whole pregnancy? I saw an endocrinologist last week and she told me I needed to stop soon (14.5 weeks) because they don't know for sure it's safe. Instead I may have to do insulin injections :-S.

@Mrs. Polish: wow. Those aren't very specific insructions. Maybe splitting them up might help. I take mine in the AM & PM with meals. Its always best to check with your dr. I can't usually avoid an appointment by calling to talk to the nurse. Gosh good luck. I've recently been having problems myself but I also have IBS.

When I was taking metformin, I had awful stomach problems when I ate high fat/fried foods and carbs. I cut back on those and started eating protein with carbs and that helped alleviate the problems. And I also lost about 20 lbs doing this! Not a bad side effect :)

I've been on Metformin for exactly a year. When I first went on I had the usual symptoms (indigestion, stomach yuck). I quit drinking coffee in hopes that the caffeine is what was making me have to run to the bathroom all the time. It seemed to work, but this past week I've been having the symptoms again. I started drinking coffee again about six months ago without an issue, so I don't think that's the culprit. I was eating pretty crappy, but changed my diet to try to alleviate symptoms.

I'm wondering if the hot weather has something to do with it.

Anyone have a regression in side effects?
