It's pretty rare, but DH is a pharmacist so he had me on a strict 2 drink max while on it. But even 2 made me sick the next day, so I kept it at 1. </p> <p>Cutting out carbs and sugar really really helped with the heartburn. That and lots of water. If I eat too many carbs, it comes back. No PCOS. It didn't help, but that's probably due to MFI. In terms of side effects- nausea and diarrhea on 500mg immediate release once daily. Extended release is more expensive (still not bad) but fewer side effects. My doctor and pharmacist told me to take the metformin after dinner, to sleep off most of the side effects. When I googled for side effects, I got some red flags for alcohol, but it was always tied to being diabetic. I was switched to the ER formula and was able to triple the dosage. I don't have PCOS. </p> <p>Did this help anyone that doesn't have PCOS conceive? Did you have to take it in conjunction with clomid/femara? He wants me to start Metformin now, but I won't start clomid until next cycle. </p> <p>Also, what side effects did you have?</p> <p>I've been getting headaches and heartburn/upset stomach the past few days, and this is the only major change I've made. </p>
