<description>&#60;p&#62;Our pedi warned us about homemade carrots, spinach, beets, and parsnips. He said they could have higher rates of nitrates and jarred varieties are often screened for nitrates. Of course the jarred stuff could have small amounts also. He didn't mention anything bout orajel though.

<description>&#60;p&#62;Has anyone's ped discussed this with them?  DS's ped told us not to use baby orajel or ambisol and to only give him jarred carrots and spinach (we can make all other purees) because of methemoglobinemia. How big of a concern is it?
