@lamariniere: This is really helpful, thanks! I was worried that the Maxi might be harder for her to use so I'd have spent extra but she'd have a harder time getting into it. It sounds like that's not the case.
@PrincessBaby: ha, our poor second borns! Mine are two years apart, and I was thinking the same thing - maybe by the time we'd need to upgrade, it's be the right size for DD2. I can't believe our 12/12ers are turning 3!
@Baby Boy Mom: that makes total sense. Thanks!
@T-Mom: see, I'd ideally like it to last a couple of years, so that makes me nervous about the Mini. I'm going back and forth!
@Trailmix: not a bad idea! I checked a while back but hadn't looked recently. The size/height is a helpful frame of reference though!

You could probably find a Mini on Craigslist to use until your daughter is ready for the Maxi. We have two Minis for my 2.5 year old twins and even tho my daughter is quite tall (38+ inches), she's totally fine on the Mini.

As you said, the handlebars are same at lowest setting for maxi. We have one of each. I would go with maxi for longer use. My 4 yr old is already outgrowing the mini.

We have two of the minis. It's not too small for my average size 4.5 year old. For us we are in the city so I consider it a form of transportation more than a toy. The reason we ended up with the mini was because it's a tad lighter and it actually makes it easier for me when I have to carry both scooters (like going down stairs to the subway). I figure if we get to the point that we need the bigger one I will just sell the mini but honestly I feel like we've already "paid them off" with how much we use them.

I don't know about the Maxi, but we have the Micro for DD1 who will be 3 in December and it's great for her and I don't think she'll outgrow it anytime soon. All the kids in our neighborhood have them and several are older than DD and I have never thought they look too big for them...

We will probably buy DD1 a new Maxi when DD2 gets old enough to ride one and she can have the Micro. Poor DD2:( She gets so many hand me downs:(

We have both. We bought the Mini when DS was about 18 months. He's now close to 5, and we bought him a Maxi not long after he turned 4. They are more or less the same height when the Maxi is at the lowest setting. Here's a comparison of our two. The only thing to note with adjusting the Maxi handlebars is that it has only a few notches that click in place. At the height we have it at currently in the picture, the lever/latch is closed and then my DH tightened the latch screw to keep the handle from sliding down. As for steering and braking, they work exactly in the same way.

I just decided to switch to the Maxi based on the comment on the other thread. My LO is tall and I don't want to spend $80 on something she'll outgrow quickly.

We're getting DD a scooter for her 3rd birthday next month. I think we're settled on either the Micro Mini or Maxi, but I can't decide what would be most age appropriate. Their website makes it look like the Mini is the obvious choice. I think some HBers have reported outgrowing it quickly though? Are there any differences other than handle bar height? Are the steering and ease of riding the same? I hate to spend so much on something that is too tricky for her now but don't want her to outgrow it in six months either. Thanks in advance for your help!
